sa2000 731 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 @amck24The log file you attached is for an emby server running on windows and not the one running on the nvidia shield Connect to your emby server through its IP Address and port 8096 just like when you are adding a library and instead - select Logs in the settings and then download the logs
sa2000 731 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 (edited) What is the library path that you are trying to add to the library you are creating? I think you are specifying the whole external HDD as the folder path 2026-04-14 17:48:47.705 Info App: Creating folder in database BE6D-992A - /storage/BE6D-992A 2026-04-14 17:48:47.738 Info App: Created folder in database BE6D-992A 4 - /storage/BE6D-992A This then led to lots of errors as emby was accessing other folders which would not be available 2026-04-14 17:49:34.862 Error App: Error in GetFileSystemEntries for /storage/BE6D-992A/Android/data .. 2026-04-14 17:49:34.866 Error App: Error in GetFileSystemEntries for /storage/BE6D-992A/Android/obb .. 2026-04-14 17:49:34.892 Error BaseItem: Error validating children for data 1973 /storage/BE6D-992A/Android/data I do see Emby server found movies below this path /storage/BE6D-992A/NVIDIA_SHIELD/Documentaries/ So can you restart the server and delete any libraries you created and create a documentaties library with the Add Folder path being just this /storage/BE6D-992A/NVIDIA_SHIELD/Documentaries/ and if that is ok, create other libraries for other media subfolders below the "/storage/BE6D-992A/NVIDIA_SHIELD/" parent folder Edited April 14 by sa2000
amck24 5 Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 That's it working mate, thanks a lot much appreciated. 2
amck24 5 Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 Now struggling to find the device on emby connect. My PC is there on the app, but I can't see the shield.

amck24 5 Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 (edited) I have managed to get access on my phone and shield TV on my local network. Stuck at trying to access it at my work. Sky broadband is a bit of a nightmare for port forwarding. Is this the correct method in the photo below? I am back on shift next week so I can try access it again on my tablet. Did you go through the checklist and did you spot the one about having two emby servers on the local network?
amck24 5 Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 So I have to change the public port? Can I delete the PC server and just have the Shield one to save confusion?
sa2000 731 Posted April 17 Posted April 17 (edited) 21 minutes ago, amck24 said: Can I delete the PC server and just have the Shield one to save confusion? There is 7 day expiry for port maps created by Emby Server. You can circumvent that by rebooting the router. So make sure the redundant server does not have the option for auto launch on login to windows. Shut it down. Reboot the router Then setup the nvidia shield as the only emby server with 8096 as the port to forward to the server With multiple emby server the solution would be as specified in the article: > In such cases, you will need to change the public ports and ensure that each emby server has a different public port. But whilst most routers allow you to have a different public port from the private/local port, some routers do not. For routers that support it, you would have one port forward for example forwarding wan/public port 32601 to lan/private port 8096 for the first server and say wan/public port 32602 to lan/private port 8096 for the second server and in each server settings you specifiy public port 32601 for first server and 32602 for second server Edited April 17 by sa2000
amck24 5 Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Does that mean I will have to add all the thumbnails again?
Neminem 1692 Posted April 18 Posted April 18 (edited) From you screenshot it looks like your NOT connecting from your remote IP. Connecting from Client Apps Edited April 18 by Neminem
sa2000 731 Posted April 18 Posted April 18 7 hours ago, amck24 said: Does that mean I will have to add all the thumbnails again? I do not know what the outcome will be. If you included metadata in the backup and the images are in the metadata folders then I would expect it to be ok after the restore I do not know what happens if the database fields that hold paths to images that are no longer in those paths. So you could refresh metadata to get new images and see if that succeeds. I have not tried it for media migrated to new different ocation with images alongside
sa2000 731 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 @amck24I will do some tests with changing media paths after restore for case when there are image files alongside the media. May be it will be ok
amck24 5 Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Okay no worries. So how do I delete the PC server before I reboot?
sa2000 731 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 1 minute ago, amck24 said: So how do I delete the PC server before I reboot? You can shutdown emby server on windows and then uninstall it through Add or Remove Programs and selecting the options for how much to remove If you leave the defaults, it would just remove the %AppData%\Emby-Server\system folder which contains the binaries and dll's The reboot I mentioned was for the router to clear the uPnP port mappings made by Emby Server]
amck24 5 Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Okay so I have shutdown the PC server and uninstalled everything from add/remove programs and have rebooted the router. What are the next steps?
sa2000 731 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 1 hour ago, amck24 said: What are the next steps? Ensure your local IP Address for the Nvidia Shield is DHCP Reserved in the router to avoid complications later and once you have done that, follow the steps in Connecting from Client Apps - External Connections for automatic port mapping. You can use "uPnP wizard" which is mentioned, as a useful and you can use that to see what is mapped for public port 8096
amck24 5 Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Any chance you can add me on discord and walk me through this, to make it quicker? veto__

amck24 5 Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 The shield IP (192.168.0.6) hasn't changed since I got it, I think it is static. I don't see the shield on the router connected devices though.
sa2000 731 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 upnp wizard would show the external public IP address - so should not upload screenshots or should redact them - but your screenshot showed 0.0.0.0 external ip address Do you have more than one modem/router ? Is the shield on wifi or ethernet ? and what is the Mac Address for the one being used - you can then check against the DHCP Reserved mac addresses
