tartx 3 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Hello, i just started with Emby Server and added new Music Library with hundreds of songs. They are id tagged with track name, artist, album and genre. When library scan finish, genre and album section in library is empty. Is because genre are not standard like "POP" but personalized "POP1"? But the same happened to "album". Please help Thanks

Thank you so much For me, just editing the Genre tag with any text, a new Genre with that text is created after a library scan. Maybe you should post the server log to see if there's some error. Luke 39009 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 The genres tab is listing albums with those genres assigned. How are your files organized?
tartx 3 Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 3 hours ago, PenkethBoy said: probably the file structure then This happen for all files. No genre was created in Library. 1 hour ago, Luke said: The genres tab is listing albums with those genres assigned. How are your files organized? My files are in external HD, no folder, just Title-Autor.mp3 and almost all metadata are compiled.

tartx 3 Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 Is not possible, main reason i'd prefer Emby is for library structure that don't need to be in folders, at least i thought
Happy2Play 9230 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Emby is not there yet, structure is required.
tartx 3 Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 Here it says it can work. Anyway i just deleted all files and put just one file in there with same result
Happy2Play 9230 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 But all functionality will not work.
tartx 3 Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 I just tried with structure album\artist\song but genre is not showed
Happy2Play 9230 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Can you please go over specific examples as every album in my library has genre.
Happy2Play 9230 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 3 minutes ago, tartx said: album\artist\song How would this structure ever work? Unless this is a typo.
tartx 3 Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 Yes it is, ok i have:C:\MUSIC\ACDC\GOLD ALBUM\8 - SOUL STRIPPER
vdatanet 1574 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 8 minutes ago, tartx said: Yes it is, ok i have:C:\MUSIC\ACDC\GOLD ALBUM\8 - SOUL STRIPPER That should work. Can you browse Emby's metadata?
Happy2Play 9230 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Without structure tracks can have genre but will not show on Genre tab as it only shows album structure. When Emby gets to 100% tag based then one can have a mish-mash organization and tags will do all the work. But we are not there yes. Specific example Track tagged properly but do to no structure does not appear in Album or Genre. Only Song or Folder. Here is the Genre, since there is no Album structure Emby ignores the track info in this view.
