What has that got to do with this post? Looks more like an ad.

Sorry this got a little bit off topic. @Xin0 now that you're able to install, please open a new topic for your issue and we'll be happy to help you there. Thanks !

your cpu is

Freescale™ ARM®v7 Cortex®-A9 dual-core 1.2GHz processor

and its a 431 so x31 version

@Luke the d/l page is confusing as it lists two package for x31 Nas's - it needs a much better description of what nas's are which - its not clear or verbose currently.

Thank you, we'll take a look at this.

FYI I've just upgraded my QNAP firmware to 4.5.1.1495 and Emby (4.5.2.0) on my TVS-873 is still working as expected.

Thanks for the info !

I was fortunate that my upgrade to QTS 4.5.1.1456 didn't bork my Emby 4.5.2 installation on my TS-253A.  It lists in the App Center as having no digital signature and needing removal but runs fine. I shut down automatic firmware check on the NAS back in early November.  I see some have updated QTS without problems but I'm wondering if the common wisdom to to still hold off.  I've got no issues with my current setup and am in no rush.

Is it now safe to upgrade to Emby 4.5.3 and/or the latest QTS 4.5.1.1495 build 20201123? Will upgrading Emby to 4.5.3 give me problems with QTS 4.5.1.1456? (I'm guessing the answer to that is yes)

If the recommendation is to hold off, at what point can it be considered safe to update?

Others are running newer versions without any trouble, but obviously if your current setup is stable that's something to consider.

I need your help guys
Emby server was running fine on my old Qnap TS-431P2 but NAS died few days ago( failed system board) and is shipped to RMA

I bought a new Qnap TS431P3 4G and inserted the disks from the old one , but there was corruption in SMB shares.

I decided to start installing the new NAS from scratch, : inserting disks one by one, installing all application new.

The only issue I have now is EMBY server, I tried installing several (X41) versions, it seems to start in Qboost but not accessible via port 8096

http://192.168.0.100:8096

This site can’t be reached

192.168.0.100 refused to connect.

I read this topic avoid 4.5.1.1.1456  firmware, so I  downgrade QNAP firmware to 4.4.3.1439. but still no luck

I tried EMBY server packages

emby-server-qnap_4.5.1.0_arm-x41

emby-server-qnap_4.5.2.0_arm-x41

emby-server-qnap_4.5.3.0_arm-x41

emby-server-qnap_4.5.4.0_arm-x41

emby-server-qnap_4.6.0.8_arm-x41

In Qboost Application Management EMby server shows as started

QNAP Resource monitor does not show EMBY server in any process name.

EMBY is not accessible via port 8096.

I doubt Emby is starting at all, I tried commands below

[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # ./emby-server.sh stop
./emby-server.sh: line 32: kill: (13810) - No such process
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # ./emby-server.sh start
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # ./emby-server.sh stop
./emby-server.sh: line 32: kill: (14434) - No such process
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] #

/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # sudo ./emby-server.sh start
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # ./emby-server.sh restart

./emby-server.sh: line 32: kill: (14862) - No such process

Advice please ?

Did you try the x31 package?

Yes I tried, but X31 is incompatible on a TS-431p3 ( same on a TS-431P2, I had Emby server X41 installed on my old NAS , which has system board failure))

Luke, did you read my first post at all  ? the answer of your question was already given there in second line.

But to answer your question :

My old NAS was a TS-431P2 4Gb, was running Emby server emby-server-qnap_4.6.0.8_arm-x41 just fine. (X31 incompatible with this model as well)

But that NAS died from a failed system board and is send RMA.

My New NAS is a TS-431P3 4GB ( Which has the same processor as the old TS-431P2)

All other applications are installing and running fine, like Sabnzb (port 8800) , Radarr ( port 7878 ) Sonarr (Port 8989), Surveillance station (all X41 versions !!!)

It is only EMBY server which does not run after installation

(I listed all tried versions in previous reply, and tried emby-server-qnap_4.6.0.10_arm-x41 just now, same result, no connection))

QNAP Resource monitor does not show EMBY server in any process name.

EMBY is not accessible via port 8096.

I doubt Emby server is starting at all.

I tried to find logs in "/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/Emby/programdata' , but there is no logs folder

[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # ls
bin/            emby-server.sh*           etc/            lib/            licenses/       programdata/    system/
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # cd programdata/
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/programdata] # ls
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer/programdata] #

I have emby server , as a workaround, now running on a Raspberry pi , which is actually my pi-hole server..

But I like EMBY server to run on my NAS.

[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # ./emby-server.sh start
./emby-server.sh: line 20: kill: (6736) - No such process
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # sudo ./emby-server.sh start
./emby-server.sh: line 20: kill: (7002) - No such process
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # sudo ./emby-server.sh restart
./emby-server.sh: line 32: kill: (7107) - No such process
[/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/EmbyServer] # sudo ./emby-server.sh stop
./emby-server.sh: line 32: kill: (7271) - No such process

Advice please,

@EdwinH The TS431* models have one of those godawful Alpine CPUs, the dotnet runtime doesn't run on them so you need to use the mono package: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.6.0.10/emby-server-qnap-mono_4.6.0.10_arm-x41.qpkg

Brilliant ! Thanks a million !!

That was the solution  !

Meanwhile I received a new TS-431P2  in returned for my failed one.

Also there this version works !!!

@Luke thank you for your time and effort

Perhaps an idea to add download page with this information ?

Emby Server for QNAP NAS Manual Installation

  1. Download one of the following packages depending on your QNAP NAS model:

Yes we need to improve the download instructions to make it easier to choose the right package. Thanks for the feedback.

I have updated firmware and updated Emby server (already had turned on the “allow other apps” feature turned on) and after the updates my server keeps getting shutdown daily. Did something change again with QNAP?
I did look at the QNAP log and it says it’s killing Emby because it’s not an authorized app.

Hi, make sure to follow the steps listed at the top of our QNAP install page:

https://emby.media/qnap-server.html
