Running emby 4.5.2.0 for QNAP x86 on QNAP TS-253A on firmware 4.5.1.1480

Emby app shows as running in QBoost. However:

- Running port scan from internal devices shows port 8096 is not open.

- Emby roku app shows connection refused to 192.168.1.xxx (QNAP NAS internal IP) at port 8096

- Connecting from Firefox to 192.168.1.xxx:8096 give error "Unable to connect"

Did the latest firmware killed / closed port 8096? Should I try reinstalling the same version over the existing installation?

Thank you so much!

Hi, yes you could try that. Thanks.

Cannot install. Error message attached.

Also there is no logs recorded in the System Event Log.

I have been running Emby 4.5.2.0 for a while. Issue is most likely lie in the updated QNAP firmware.

Hello,

my Qnap TS-431 with 4.3.6.1446(last firmware) is everything working but then I install the new version 4.5.2 package of emby app and then don’t work anymore.

It is possible to install the last/previous  version on emby app like I have before?

Edit: I put this to work by install a previous package on qnap. Obviously I have to configure all libraries again.

thanks

Hi there, what does "don't work anymore" mean?

I can’t access to Emby page.

Then o install one previous version of package and works again, but I have to add all my library again.🥺

Just FYI, I've just upgraded my Qnap TVS-873 to firmware 4.5.1.1480 and Emby 4.5.2.0 is still working without any intervention. Just 2 reboots as recommended by Qnap (one before the upgrade and one after).

I did notice the upgrade included changes to the Fireware (QuFirewall). Not sure if you are using that Xin0. But your issue could relate to either a firewall or router issue?

You could try running the remote desktop on your NAS and see if you can use a web browser to access Emby on localhost.

Don’t think o because i install previous version and work again.
Right now I install the last version again, 4.5.2 and doesn’t work again!!!

so it’s a problem with this version...

I already try it but don’t install it....give an error and don’t let it install that package.

But with x41 always happens, not only with this last one.

I have another question if you can help me.

my friend install Emby server on windows and configure all libraries.

but then when it goes to Apple TV and ask to go to Emby/media/pin....something like that he can’t login with his account?? Why?

thank you very much for you help!

your cpu is

Freescale™ ARM®v7 Cortex®-A9 dual-core 1.2GHz processor

and its a 431 so x31 version

@Luke the d/l page is confusing as it lists two package for x31 Nas's - it needs a much better description of what nas's are which - its not clear or verbose currently.

I have a Qnap TS 431 like I said, when I go to edit my library it’s very slow to see all covers of my films. I would like to know if it’s because limitations of my Qnap or if I put an SSD on my first Qnap drive where runs OS will be faster?

best regards...

its your cpu - ssd might make a small difference - but you need two ssd's minimum as the os needs raid1

not worth it on a low power box

put emby on something else and use the nas for its designed purpose of a file server

😁

ok, but my NAS it’s basically for my multimedia storage...and i use my appletv to see it.

So other option is install emby server on my laptop but the files will be on my NAS still the same or will be faster this way?

But I will have 2 equipments turned on to do the job!!!

Buy a more capable NAS is the solution?!🥺

Thanks

yep - or build you own and give it a proper cpu with some grunt - remember raid and networking dont come free they need cpu power to work effectively

and the more clients you have the worse it can get

for just file server duties my 853A providing a 4k movie to a single client - has its cpu at 25-35% - when its not doing anything else but direct playing the file on my tv/shield etc
