Are you certain the file contains the necessary fonts?

yes the files do contain the necessary fonts needed for the subtitle

it plays perfectly when direct played (android) but when transcoded it does not burn in the fonts (browser)

heres a sample of the video

Currently when transcoding we don't use the custom fonts embedded within the video. This is something we plan to revisit in the near future and support it. Thanks for reporting.

quick question

Do I have to worry about my server being unsecured?

Just as much or little as any other website.  So if it's just you and your family you can make sure each person uses a unique password just for Emby.

Now if someone was to intercept your unencrypted traffic the best they would have is a username/password that works only for your Emby system but not your gmail, bank accounts or any other service.  The real need is to protect the user from dumb things like using the same username and password on many different services.  A breach on any site would give an attacker access to other services like gmail where a host of information is available as well as resetting passwords on other sites since most sites send an email confirmation or quick update link.

So in all honesty if you are just setting up family accounts and make sure the password is unique then the worst compromise is your video collection not the rest of your online data.

Hope that helps,

Carlo

It's always a good idea to employ SSL when possible but not the end of the world if you don't use it if prepared.  Just make sure the password is not anything used anywhere else and you're on pretty good ground as far as not using encryption.

Then of course is just good common sense.  Logging in from a friends house or from work over WIFI is one thing while logging in from a public hot spot is another as it could be compromised.

So use common sense as well when logging in or using non SSL username/password (not just for Emby).

so like watching your media through some unsecured wifi despite using a strong password is still unsafe?

Conceivably.  But you have to make your own judgement of the actual risk, and the harm it could do - if you stand in a dark street you might get mugged, but you probably don't spend much time worrying about it every time you go out.

Someone stealing a password that enables them to view videos from your server does little harm anyway - I suppose they may take up some bandwidth until they realise your taste is not theirs.  And after all, there's no money in it - on the whole they're much more likely to try to get passwords for banks and the like, so that's what you should worry about more.

Once again thanks for the answer

Man I gotta appreciate how fast y'all respond unlike Plex forums I did a complain about no ASS support for Android in their forums and they straight up ip banned me

One of the reasons why I switched from Plex to emby

Also saw the amazing features you added to the server and immediately bought the monthly subscription
