Android TV / Shield Subtitles Too High

Hi,

 

The subtitles on Android TV / Shield appear too high on the image. The lower subtitle is a little above the lower black band of the movie.

 

On the android app, iOS app, Chrome, Windows Theater, they appear in a much more logic position (next to the bottom).

 

How can I change this?

Hi.  We don't have any settings for this at this time but may in the future.  The player is probably trying to keep them in the video frame on purpose - because the black bars may be cropped out of view on the display.

But why is it different on Android TV / Shield? The player should know where the is the end of the screen and base the subtitles position by that line. On the other players its working fine.

Many of the apps use players native to their particular environment.  As I said, this player is positioning them where they are for a very good reason.  If they did what you were requesting, then anyone who zoomed the black bars away would not be able to see the subtitles.

 

Options for this are possible in the future.

I understand what you are saying, but is it not possible to assign the subtitles position to a coordinate in the screen instead of a coordinate in the picture?

 

The app must know the resolution of the screen, so if in 1080p, the lowest line is 1080. The subtitle could be shown assigned to this position.

 

Image I have a movie in 2048x858 on a 1080p screen, the subtitles will take a large part of the movie if I set them to show only where there is image.
