cyntrifical 0 Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Okay, so before I used to use a Roku Ultimate TV box, which the Emby App and the windows Emby Server worked flawlessly, and emby server connects easily with both the iOS and Android smartphone apps, but recently we purchased an Amazon 4K FireTV Stick because they were on sale, and despite it having obvious advantages over Roku, the first time I tried connecting emby server to emby for firetv it drove me mad. I don't have enough know how to install root and ca certificates onto the FireTV, so after what seemed like 50 times of trying to use Emby Connect and manually typing the IP and port in, somehow it connected, and it stayed connected up until the last time I used it 3 nights ago. Then today I tried to start the emby app and once again "Error connecting to server", I've saved the most recent emby log of the connection event, so if anyone could help me figure this out I'd be forever in your debt! FireTV would be perfect if not for the issues connecting to emby server, because I use emby very often! Thanks in advance everybody! P.S. I attached the log as a txt below
ebr 15338 Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Hi. There is no log attachment above. Exactly how are you attempting to connect? You mention certificates - are you trying to use https? If so, you will have to use a cert the device trusts - this is actually the whole point of https and certificates - to ensure you are talking to who you think you are.
cyntrifical 0 Posted June 22, 2019 Author Posted June 22, 2019 oops I'm sorry I must have messed up somehow. how about this time? Emby-FireTVStick4K-Log.txt
ebr 15338 Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Hi. There is no reference to an Android device in that log. Are you trying to connect with https? Also, I did notice a bunch of errors trying to access some of your library.
cyntrifical 0 Posted June 23, 2019 Author Posted June 23, 2019 Really? No I don’t care if it’s http or https. Basically I’ll have my PC running emby server on it, then open emby for fire tv, and after the struggle getting it to work the first time I finally managed to get it working and the next several times my server automatically popped up and logged in. This last time the server had disappeared and when I tried to manually input the local IP (10.0.0.14:8096) but it just kept saying “error connecting to server”. However your last statement reminded me I have moved some files to an external drive however I’ve since rescanned libraries from the emby server PC dashboard console. Could that still have something to do with this recent issue? Out of curiousity I installed PLEX media server and it’s corresponding app on firetv and it worked fine.
ebr 15338 Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 After you get the cannot connect error, is there a "Send Logs" button on that screen? If so, can you please press it and then come back here and tell me exactly what time you did that? Thanks.
Luke 38498 Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 @@cyntrifical, were you able to do this? We'd like to help you resolve this. Thanks !
cyntrifical 0 Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 My apologies, my work had me tied up for a while, no, unfortunately on my fire tv after it says “error connecting to server” I haven’t seen anything under or after it to get a log from.
cyntrifical 0 Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 I will try and take a picture or screenshot of said screen and post here
