rikiwi 32 Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Ive been happily using version 3.0.6 for several months as this was the only version that allowed mouse control of the overlay. 3 days ago the overlay has stopped displaying making the app almost useless. I'm just guessing that its prossibly due to the latest server update. I'm on Windows 10 Pro My graphics card is an old ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series (has a generic ATI driver and no longer being updated) I'll go back to using Chromecast in the lounge to keep everybody happy.
Luke 38841 Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 I'm not expecting anything to be different, but if you want to try the test version i posted here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/46763-theater-mpv-test/ Perhaps we'll get lucky. Thanks.
rikiwi 32 Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Hi Luke The test version - 3.0.9. there is no visible overlay but it is accessable by finding it with the mouse pointer The overlay has tottally dissapperaed from version 3.0.6 (last 3 days) Let me know what else I could try in settings. Marc_G 92 Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Just in case, I've paused windows updates on my Emby machine that serves as server and HTPC. It's Intel i5-6600 on Win10 pro. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

Thanks. Luke, did you rebuild mpv for this? You said that you might be doing that?
rikiwi 32 Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 YES. In the test version weird stuff is happening. I am able to advance the video by locating the progress bar but I cannot see it. If I go over to the right I find the setting label but on clicking it nothing happend except the the close, minimize etc. are not accessable. So the only thing I can do with the mouse is to find the back button to return to the previos screen. Also no mouse control are available, except the Esc button that returns me ot the previos screen.

terrorbytes 1 Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 I tried using version 3.0.6 by disabling the auto updater by both modifying the config file and renaming the MediaBrowser.Updater.exe, it would initially work with the OSD then if I needed to relaunch ET it would hang on the loading screen. Today I found a new workaround that seems to work and allows for ET to be restarted, however I have not fully tested this method so who knows what it might break. Steps: 1. Install ET normally and let it update to the latest. 2. Download v 3.0.6 zip https://github.com/MediaBrowser/emby-theater-windows/releases/tag/3.0.6 for your architecture. 3. Make sure ET is closed then copy the electronapp folder from the v3.0.6 zip file to your c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\system folder (overwrite all). I did this on the following hardware/OS: Other info Windows 10 1903 x64 Intel HD Graphics 530 driver version 26.20.100.7156 I was also experiencing the OSD on another computer with the same version of Windows 10 and Intel HD Graphics 2500, I was able to resolve the issue by installing an Nvidia GTX 650 Ti with driver version 26.21.14.3630.
prankmunky13 1 Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Just wanted to report that I lost the visible control overlay during playback in Emby Theater 3.0.10 after updating to the latest Win 10 service pack. Anyone else having similar issues after the last major Windows update? 'll try the 3.0.6 work around tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

My guess is copying the x64 folder from v3.0.9 would work as well but I have not tested it. 1

Marc_G 92 Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 I question why we are 6 months plus into this issue without a fix. Because the Emby team is so responsive in general, the fact that we have had to do workarounds for so long on this one issue comes as a surprise. Still, the workaround works, so I just kind of move along... Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

However, it did not work when using folders from v3.0.9. Didn't have time to try anyof the builds in between those two.

This works for me only the first time, I copied both the x64 and electronapp folders from 3.0.6 to 3.0.10 and I have the overlay back - but my remote no longer works!, upon a reboot ET starts to a black screen with the emby logo, uninstall and reinstall is the only way to get it working again. Looks like i'm stuck with no overlay for a while longer.
Crestj 68 Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 Any news on the fix for this? I assume, like me, a lot of users have gone down the route of stopping automatic updates for Emby Theatre so won;t know when a fixed version is released.
playloud 10 Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 Is there a way to access "Stats for Nerds" in Theater while the OSD is missing?
Luke 38841 Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 Is there a way to access "Stats for Nerds" in Theater while the OSD is missing? No but if it's missing for you then i would just install 3.0.6 as others have done here.
tadr 1 Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 (edited) Is there any resolution to this?? I'm new to Emby Theater (longtime Emby for WMC user), and just bought lifetime premiere today in an effort to move from WMC to Emby. I installed ET 3.0.10 this evening and noticed the lack of overlay/OSD. I eventually found this thread and after reading through dozens of posts, had hopes that installing 3.0.6 from github would fix things. So I installed that. Now I have the OSD but I can't see the video playback (but I know it's playing, as I can hear the audio). Wonderful. Glad I ponied up for premiere... FWIW I'm on Win 7 x64 SP1, i5 3570k with Intel HD4000 graphics and latest intel drivers. Edited January 3, 2020 by tadr
TheShanMan 36 Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 For what it's worth, I've experienced the black screen with sound. Not sure if your cause is the same but have a look here. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/81047-videos-are-black-with-functioning-audio-after-windows-screensaver-ends/?view=getnewpost
