Hi,

Is there any way to add an overlay for EAC3 audio codecs?

Custom overlays used with CoverArt, alongside Iconic Image Enhancer

Would also love a way to apply a 480p icon.

Seems as if I'm doing something wrong, do the files have to be in the "Custom-Overlays" root ?

Wanted to check out several of the offered here, this is my config:

And this is the kinda crappy result:

Beginners Guide for Synology NAS

Prerequisites

  • Active Emby Premiere Membership
  • Installed Plugin CoverArt (from catalouge)
  • Activated SSH in Synology CP
  • Overlay files unzipped and copied to a folder on your Synology

Initial Setup

STEP 1 Connect via terminal i.e. Powershell to your Synology:

ssh <username>@<synology-ip> -p <port number>

STEP 2 Enterr user password, make yourself root:

sudo -i

STEP 3 After giving your root credentials, navigate to your CoverArt/Custom-Overlays sub-directory:

cd /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/plugins/CoverArt/Custom-Overlays

STEP 4 Now copy the files to the directory:

cp /PATH/TO/FILES/*.* /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/plugins/CoverArt/Custom-Overlays

STEP 5 Check if the owner is listed as root via dir cmd

STEP 5B If not take ownership:

chown ./

In the output you will see that the permissions, even after taking ownership, are not sufficient.

STEP 6 Modify the permissions:

chmod 777 -R -/

After checking via dir cmd your output should look similar to this:

image.thumb.png.9550a14f70f5ed32f8ddec79deaa3453.png

STEP 7 End ssh session by:

logout

repeat for user logout. Followed by

exit

to close the terminal.

That's it !

STEP  8 Proceed with configuring the CoverArt plugin

Make sure you choose "Media Info".

Select Custom Image Location, change "Overlay Style" to Custom, choose Position and check your desired Icons.

image.png.abc5f0748e400e3452be316e1088f9fc.png

Go back to main screen using POS1 key and enjoy your new style !

As mentioned, depending on files, it may take a while before all covers are updated, BoxSets excluded.

image.png.46ccdd61bb5f31bcf2263d702b78f5b9.png

Replace Overlays (what I had to do)

If you ever feel like changing the Custom Overlay Indicators, you have to delete the cache/db to take effect

Therefore, ssh+sudo and navigate to sub.-directory "@eaDir" in Custom-Overlays:

cd /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/plugins/CoverArt/Custom-Overlays/\@eaDir

and delete the only file inside with:

rm -R *.*

go back 1 directory

cd ..

And start over beginning with STEP 4

@ebrFeel free to integrate in your linked guide.

What should the 3D icon be called?

Depends on the icon used.

image.png.c8dbe096ddb615ec504ee6b5b6cae321.png

But @ebrwill have to comment as I can't get custom 3D icons to appear.  Will guess it could be difficult as there are three icon choices and Custom does not specify an icon choice.

Yeah - that is the problem. 😖

Does anyone have access to the plug-in’s ‘custom-overlays’ folder? 🤔
(I’m using the plug-in’s custom image location which works well - except it doesn’t tell me the naming convention of the 3D overlay. I’m just nowhere near clever enough myself to delve into those system files!). 😱

They are the same name that appears in the /cache/coverart/plugin version/resources folder to my knowledge.   But I think my theory is correct but the dev will have to comment.

Does there happen to be a way of getting to that folder without using the terminal? 😳
(I’m using a synology nas btw - so the system files aren’t as easily accessible) 😢

Sorry no they are in your Emby Cache folder.  You can see that path via Dashboard-Three dot menu-Server Info.

Found it - I changed my cache location to an accessible folder instead of hidden away in the system! 😇

Hi.  You could delete the cache\images\enhanced-images folder which would cause everything to rebuild.

Pretty sure it is the two-letter code.

That will contain all images cached by any enhancer - currently CoverArt or Iconic as far as I'm aware.

Now that I’ve changed the cache location and discovered the names for the 3D icons, I thought I’d share what I’ve done.

Nice job and thanks for sharing with us.

I have some questions:

You only have H264 and VC1 in library ?

I kinda miss H265 for the video codecs or is that the intention of trueHD video icon ?

Afaik TrueHD is only a sound codec.

Additional aspect ratios would be cool too.

All that is not ment to be offensive or know-it-all like.

I can't do this kind of work and really appreciate every ones work in this part.

I only had those guys in my CoverArt cache folder unfortunately. I’ve only changed all the image files of what was already in there.
Either CoverArt doesn’t support that codec or I didn’t have any videos in my collection that used that codec so it didn’t get added to my cache folder. 🤔

I can certainly make one if it should be one. 😇

It was 50/50 on my part and I chose wrong! 😱

I totally agree! If that functionality exists in the CoverArt plugin (or is added in the future), I will definitely add it to my images. Those were the only 2 aspect icons in my cache folder though. 😢

Hmmm just wanted to check if I can give you some other file names, but somehow my CoverArt seems screwed up.

Can only pick those 2 options:

but found an old folder from some1 elses icons:
