Emby Android TV client fails to remember password

I'm going to attach pictures but Enmby android TV clients fails to remember password and it seriouly annoy and certainly takes away from the user experience. Who the hell wants to keep having to login on a remote with no qwerty all the time. So unless the account is deleted or disable the client needs to remember the login forever and until the end of time, right now it only remembers for about a day I don't know what the trigers are that pushes it to stop remember but this issue is 100 percent reproducible as a friend of mine with same equipment is having same issue as well. other than what i provide don't ask for any further information as I have other things to do and don't have time to do any follow ups. Just test and fix on your own.

Hi.  This functionality is working for us and, it appears most people, so can we please take a look at the specifics of the issue you are having?

Thanks.

Well 2 different nvidia shield tv's in 2 different locations having the same issue do not lie. I also told you it does not drop out immediately it literally takes a day or 2. I don't know what the trigger is that is dropping it out but that's for you folks to figure out. BTW Jay99 and Jayw654 are the same person. Plus, granted I should have worded it better but was good enough, I said the following to begin with "right now it only remembers for about a day I don't know what the triggers are that pushes it to stop remembering". This means a quick 10 minute test will not discover the issue. Also as far as others not reporting it doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist as this issue has been going on for ever since I had the nvidia shield TV some people just don't want to go through the hassle of reporting. YES, IT DEFINITELY A HASSLE! I have had this issue for over 8 months and never reported due to it being a hassle and hoping someone else would report it for me.

Hi. I understand this is happening for you but I can tell you I have three Shields in the house all set to login as particular users for the past few years and this has never happened to me.  Also, we don't have other reports of it happening so there is something different that is happening to you.

We just need to figure out what that is.

I assume the passwords for the accounts in question are not changing.  Does anything happen about the same time this problem happens to you?  Anything at all - even if you don't think it could be related.

Thanks.

My Shield has started doing this as well, with client version AndroidTv 1.6.82g

If you authenticate, then quit the app and restart it you get a toast with 'invalid username or password' and booted back to the authentication screen. ( <user> and <token> redacted by me):

Hi.  I think your issue may be different.

Does your user not have a password or, perhaps, you are using the EasyPin feature without password in network?

For that user, I have an external password + internal network pin set.

On android (non-TV) the same account connects and stays authenticated across reboots / app quits etc...

No, these passwords are not changing, mor are they being disabled or accounts being deleted. However, one thing I did leave out is that DLNA is disabled. The reason I wanted to what issues that others are experiencing externally and DLNA can reacted differently than a person accessing the server remotely. Which would explain why you may not be experiencing the issue.

When this has happened to me in the past (on both 1 shield and 1 roku), uninstall/reinstall of the client app has fixed it.

DLNA should not have any effect here.

Do you ever switch users in the app?

Thanks - I did a 'clear data' on the Emby app, logged back in and now it's remembering the login again...

I completely blew out my nvidia shield tv guess we'll see what happens in a few days. Yes, I use the factory reset - erase everything option

I had a thought on this... Does your Shield run low on space?

I'm wondering if, after some use, the device is running out of space and cannot properly save the credential information.
