baderkoot 0 Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 I need help updating Emby. it stopped updating at version 3.2.40.0-1. it's been months I am really stuck. I can't identify what's causing this. If anyone can help, I appreciate it. Regards
baderkoot 0 Posted July 29, 2018 Author Posted July 29, 2018 I get this message {Failed to update "Emby Server". Operation failed} in the notifications
Luke 38537 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Can you please shutdown emby server, then follow the instructions on our website to install the latest version on top of your existing version: https://emby.media/download Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !
baderkoot 0 Posted July 30, 2018 Author Posted July 30, 2018 The Package Source was already in my list and Trusted Publishers was already chosen so I tried to install again and I got the same message. It doesn't start the download just shows me the "Updating..." in green
Luke 38537 Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 It's a large download and may just be taking a little time. Did you try just giving it a little time? Thanks.
baderkoot 0 Posted July 31, 2018 Author Posted July 31, 2018 I don't touch it. It shows "Updating..." then after a few minutes it displays the error
Luke 38537 Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 @@solabc16 any ideas on how we can get more info about what happened? Although it sounds like a download timeout to me.
baderkoot 0 Posted August 1, 2018 Author Posted August 1, 2018 So what should I try next ? It's haven't been updating since last November and I've missed a lot of the cool upgrades
solabc16 379 Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 Hello @@baderkoot What version of DSM are you currently running? You can get this from DSM -> Control Panel -> System -> Info Center. If possible, can you do the following: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Synology-:-How-to-Send-us-Support-Logs Best - James

baderkoot 0 Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 It worked, Thank you very much! If it's not asking too much, would you mind explaining what was wrong ? I still haven't figured out what the problem was. Regards
Solution solabc16 379 Posted August 3, 2018 Solution Posted August 3, 2018 (edited) Hello @@baderkoot That's great news, thanks for the feedback. No problem, here's the additional detail... - - - - - - - It looks like an attempt was made to update the package from 3.2.40.0-1 to 3.2.50.0-1 on 2017-12-21 at 21:08:29 UTC. This upgrade was abruptly interrupted part way through the process, do you recall the system crashing or losing power? The end result was that the package's directory structure wasn't as expected when attempting subsequent upgrades, hence the upgrade aborting with the error message you first reported. - - - - - - - We'll use this information to see if there is anything we can learn from this to improve the process and/or make it more resilient in future releases. baderkoot 0 Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 Hi @@solabc16... Well, we do have power outages frequently here because of this old building so I keep UPS units on most of my gadgets. Unfortunately the budget didn't allow me to include the NAS in the mix. So I say it's might have been caused by a power outage, yes. Thank you for your help and your time, I really appreciate it Regards Bader AlKoot
