So we all ask for simple "Select all" option and developers are like:

NOOOOOO! NEVEEEER!

As my people say - It's all good until they start beating us... I'll keep paying monthly, just don't hurt me please...

Hi, nowhere in this topic has a developer ever said never to this request. It's planned for the future. thanks.

I was going to suggest a multi select as well. It's a bit of pain when/if you have to reinstall Emby to select 400 odd files to change to played.

Has this feature ever been implemented or any other quick way to select titles?

Cheers

Hi, we do already have a multi select in the top left of each poster.

Thanks Luke,

Yes that's fine if you're only selecting a few movies (clicking the top left of each poster). Thats what I normally use.

But if you've got tonnes of titles you want to bulk change, you still have to click and select each one individually.

Is there anyway to basically bulk select posters yet? (Like a select all, select by row etc)

Cheers

So, how do I select all the movies in the database and marked them as watched?

Edit: Go to home view, choose your collection, then you will see an option to mark all as played.

Semi-related, but the vertical list views will support the multi-select feature in the next release of Emby Server.

Is it implemented on 4.6.7.0 ? I am not able to select all , in list view !

Go to Home Scree and choose the Library where you want to select all. Click the circle at the top left corner. Then from the top right of your screen, select the three dots and you will see an option to Mark all as played.

In case I want to mark all to delete? I am assuming what luke meant is in list view we can generally select or deselect all media files together

Shift to multi-select support is on the way. Thanks for the feedback.

Just to ensure future readers (like me) get the good information: start to select the first row you want, then hold shift key and select the last one you want, all the line between will be selected.

What do you mean?

No there is no dedicate select all as it is/will be extremely resource heavy as all is never loaded.  So currently with the select first item, scroll to bottom, hold shift, select last item will probably be the best we will ever get.  As Emby chunk loads the media as you scroll.

This works great, could we get something similar implemented in the Mobile app. Select all song for example.

I'm not sure that would be a great idea as @Happy2Playmentioned.
These types of operations can get extremely resource heavy and probably not the best for mobile environments.

I don't understand how select all can be resource heavy until an operation is actually performed. The operations that I would like to perform on the selections would be performed on the Server side any how.

The same function is already there via the long press context menu.

But how do you multi-select all items as there is no shift option?

Emby does not load every item in your library as those queries actually take a lot of resource and you would say why is this operation taking minutes to load and or complete.  So it does loading in chunks as you scroll requesting as you go.

You just have to tap one at a time to select, and then perform your operation.

@Happy2PlayPreferably the same way as it is with other apps on Android (not sure about ios), you long press to select the first item and then scroll with pressed finger until you reach the last item of your selection.

This is not an issue with the method I mentioned above, as the items should be loaded as they are selected. If one dares to select thousands of items, then a performance hit is always possible of course.

@LukeFor my use case, I am talking about selecting songs of an aritst to refresh metadata. Some artists might have a few hundred songs. Do you know how annoying it is to select each song manually 😃
