mickeyfinn 26 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 It would be great to be able to configure channel groups in LiveTV, which can be selected in the guide view (maybe as tabs) so that we can more quickly navigate to preferred channels using the d-pad. Perhaps start with Favorites by default, but be able to add custom groups (similar to collections) which we can add channels to (Network, Premium, Basic Cable, Kids, News etc.). 23 2
Luke 38830 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 If we gave preference to favorite channels and frequently watched channels, would you even need channel groups?
blade005 172 Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 If we gave preference to favorite channels and frequently watched channels, would you even need channel groups? Luke, It would still be nice as an option. With WMC I have a PRIMETIME Channel group that only shows major networks and fits on one page without the need to scroll. (Big deal in WMC layout). I also have a CLASSICS Channel group that just pulls together the classic TV and Movie channels. It is nice to have these custom separate groupings that a favorite or frequently watched default will not always cover. 1
WickedTv 22 Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Hi. Is there a option to have channel groups via the live tv folder? As in I have 4 M3u lists on 1 server but the whole live tv folder is not grouped or even in alphabetical order. Would be great to have the whole list grouped to navigate the list quickly. Eg Sports News Movies Entertainment Kids etc etc Is this something the emby team can incorporate? Many thanks 22
EODCrafter 180 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) I'm fairly new to IPTV Streaming but my m3u contains "group-title" but instead it seems Emby sorts on the stream number...Example 1234567.ts. There needs to be a better way for Emby to identify IPTV channels and this is already included in my streams. Please join me in trying to get Emby to sort on these values so we can better manage our IPTV. Here's an example of my Stream output so others may identify a field better suited to sort on. Thanks for for help! Below is an example of my m3u data that is imputed into Emby VIA .m3u URL or File.m3u.... #EXTM3U #EXTINF:-1 tvg-ID="" tvg-name="US: CBS Baton Rouge" tvg-logo="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/df/Wafb_2008.png/175px-Wafb_2008.png" group-title="General Streams",US: CBS Baton Rouge #EXTINF:-1 tvg-ID="" tvg-name="US: CNBC World" tvg-logo="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d4/CNBC_World.svg/170px-CNBC_World.svg.png" group-title="News",US: CNBC World #EXTINF:-1 tvg-ID="" tvg-name="US: Fox Baton Rouge LA WGMB" tvg-logo="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a0/WGMB44.png/175px-WGMB44.png" group-title="Regional Locals",US: Fox Baton Rouge LA WGMB #EXTINF:-1 tvg-ID="" tvg-name="US: Fox Dayton" tvg-logo="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/06/WRGTlogo.PNG" group-title="General Streams",US: Fox Dayto #EXTINF:-1 tvg-ID="" tvg-name="US: FOX DC" tvg-logo="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6c/Logo_of_WTTG-TV.png/110px-Logo_of_WTTG-TV.png" group-title="General Streams",US: FOX DC I omitted the actual streams due to security issues..... fu11circ1e 4 Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 I have noticed that it has been a while since anyone has asked again for this feature. I am currently using iptv-epg and the option for groups is great. I understand the use of favorites but having another option for groups would be an absolutely fantastic feature to add. 3

Sports channels are an example where having a group makes sense. I can quickly pull up a list of all my sports channels and browse through to pick which event I want to watch.
BillOatman 550 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I agree that channel groups would be very useful. The shield scrolls very quickly but it is still tedious with a few hundred channels. The Roku is just a nightmare because of its slowness. 1

pir8radio 1302 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 (edited) If this is a difficult task for @@ebr and @@Luke can we get something easy in the meantime... Like a colored bar across the guide grid that says the group name in the m3u not what is in emby. so i would see like a bar across the grid (using one of the channels rows) that says Sports then as im scrolling through the guide i know everything below that bar is sports channels... until i get to the next colored bar that says USA PPV's then i know the following channels are PPV channels, etc.... that should be pretty easy right?
