plessers@gmail.com 24
Hello, I like the search function of Emby very much. However, if I search for i.e. "David Bowie", I find the person twice It's not a big deal, but when I clik on "Artist", I find some information (aprox 105 songs in my case), and if I click on "Person", I find other information.(1 movie and aprox 50 songs). What is the difference? Can I merge both information lists? It would be nice to have all the songs displayed in one list... kind regards, Bart
Deathsquirrel 741
Person is movie\tv related. Artist is music. He did both so has two entries.
plessers@gmail.com 24
mmm. @Deathsquirrel: does that mean that there is a bug (or my database is corrupt) David Bowie as "Person": - nice description - movies played in - songs David Bowie as "Artist": - songs Although the separation into two people is artificial, this is no big problem for me. But the problem that I can't find albums or songs in a clear manner is very annoying. Why do I get songs as result when I filter on person? Where can I find albums related to a person/artist? Why aren't all songs displayed when filter on artist? sincerely, Bart Edited January 23, 2016 by plessers@gmail.com
Luke 37007
the movie and music artist/people databases are not connected. there is currently no way to match them up other than just by name which will inevitably create issues of false matches. plessers@gmail.com 24
I can understand that @@Luke and it's fair enough not to have a connection between both. But @@Luke, why does the search result display songs If I filter on Person? Anyway: If person and artist remain separated, I would love to have ALL my music search results on artist: - albums (where albumartist = searchquery) - albums (where songs with artist = searchquery) - all songs (for the moment right now, it seems that only songs are displayed that are not displayed with the person-filter) The reason why this is so important for me is that the search is much accurate and quicker than Plex, so I am thinking on migrating to Emby (in fact, just bought a yearly membership for thgis :-) ). grtz! Luke 37007
Search is currently global, but I think in the future it will be more robust and allow you to do those kinds of things.
Happy2Play 8242
Could it be the way your music is tagged? Here is what I get selecting Artist. Edited January 23, 2016 by Happy2Play
plessers@gmail.com 24
Looks great @@Happy2Play! I tag my mp3's with mp3tag, and I'm quite sure they are properly tagged. For instance However, one can never be sure, so I you have any tips... bart
Happy2Play 8242
Do all your artist display without albums? Those tags should be fine. None of my Person images show anything related to music, only Artist unlike your screenshot above where Person showing songs.
plessers@gmail.com 24
@Happy2Play: can you please check something for me? I noticed that I don't have artistId on my metadata: Do you have those properties filled in for Blake Shelton?
Happy2Play 8242
Here is an example from each level. Artist Album Song So yes the artist id is populated at all level on my example. Edited January 23, 2016 by Happy2Play
plessers@gmail.com 24
I'm affraid there is something bigger going one here :-( If I browse to my albumartist David Bowie, no albums are showed either... It seems that the field "album" does not exist anymore! Strange thing is that albums are showed on the album list. Just don't understand it. Maybe I should try to start with fresh install and re-index everyting. Will take hours and gbytes...grrrrr :-(
plessers@gmail.com 24
Thanx @@Happy2Play. I can see that you have Music Brainz Artist ID Also: you have a grouping level per artist on your metadata manager. I have a list of albums directly under music: Not good I am affraid... -

plessers@gmail.com 24
Indeed, I have \Music \Artist Name - Album Name 1- Song.mp32- Song.mp3 But, the article also mentioned "This is not a requirement and other structures will also work"

plessers@gmail.com 24
Hi @@Happy2Play, @@Luke, I have found some time now to do some tests: Rescanned music and now: music is still organized without artist level: search results are OK (albums are displayed with music artist): but I still don't have an MusicBrainz Artist ID So my problem is solved, but I don't understand why... Also: it would be nice to have my albums hierarchically beneeth album artist in the metadata manager. Is there something else that I can do? kind regards, Bart
Luke 37007
with your folder structure not matching the wiki suggestions you'll have to wait until our music features become 100% tag driven. They are almost there but is really the final part.
plessers@gmail.com 24
OK, thanx. No big deal. The reason why I don't follow those suggestions: it is much easier to copy an album to usb if they are on a flat list. Al the albumfolders start with the albumartist, so they are "grouped" together. i.e.: anyway. As I said: no big deal and happy that at least someone was willing to read my post :-) grtz B
