plessers@gmail.com 24
@@Luke, are you sure? I just tested again with adding 2 new libraries, containing the same music. The first, organised in a "flat" manner, the other "hierarchical" FLAT--------------\Music\Artist Name - Album Name1- Song.mp32- Song.mp3 HIERARCHICAL--------------\Music\Artist Name\Album Name1- Song.mp32- Song.mp3 However, on my metadata manager I still can not see the artist as node in the tree...:
Luke 36879
well that's only the metadata manager. it has a slightly different api. we can look at that sort of thing later, but just from browsing the music section you should see artists and album artists in both of the tabs for that. plessers@gmail.com 24
Yep. I can confirm that.
Luke 36879
Thanks. The metadata manager is it's own animal because typically we want to show the raw folder views so that the admin can see everything without being affected by any rules pertaining to visibility, like parental control for example. i will have to think about how best to handle this type of music library in that scenario. Behelit 5
Ok, i've added my music folder in various libraries and everything got sorted perfectly: albums, genres, songs, folders. I have a problem with artists and album artists, it's the same as the actors one for movies and series: they are all sorted and listed but their profiles are empty, no photos and no bios, even if i have all my music already scraped with music brainz and every track has music brainz tags for artists and album artists too. Only solution is refresh every single artist. UPDATE: Following plessers@.com examples: HIERARCHICAL --------------\Music\Artist Name\Album Name1- Song.mp32- Song.mp3 This way Emby can download automatically all the infos, artists / album artists images and bios too while scraping the library. ----------------------------- FLAT (my current folders structure)--------------\Music\Artist Name - Album Name1- Song.mp32- Song.mp3 Emby doesn't download artists / album artists images and bios while scraping the library. You have to do it manually for every single artist. Edited June 5, 2016 by Behelit
plessers@gmail.com 24
just to summarize: for me, the original problem is solved: in the search, there is a clear difference now between "artist" and "person". If I select "David Bowie" as "person", only links to movies are displayed. If I select "David Bowie" as artists, only music is displayed PERSON: ARTIST even with a "flat" folder structure, If you select an artist in the search results, you still will see hierarchy (see screenshot above) So for me this issue is solved, and can be closed. @behelit: I do also have some problems with artwork, but on my testserver -with fresh new libraries- album/artist artwork is downloaded nicely. I will try to figure things out and post a new note if neccesarry @Luke: thans for help, support, feedback and above all: solutions! B
Luke 36879
Great, thanks for the info guys.
Behelit 5
After some testing i've found out what's the problem: It's "Save artwork and metadata into media folders" It doesn't work with a Music flat folders structure (Music\Artist Name - Album Name\ 01 Song.mp3) cause it generates detailed album.nfo and folder.jpg where they should be but only a simple artist.nfo (without musicbrainz tags) in AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\metadata\artists. If you have a Music flat folder structure you have to uncheck that option and then scan the library, make a full refresh of the new music library in metadata manager and then recheck that option if you, like me, use it for movies and tv series. plessers@gmail.com 24
@behelit: thanx for this information. I can confirm that this solves also my issue.!!!
Luke 36879
can you give an example of what it saves?
plessers@gmail.com 24
@Luke: With my new settings, nothing is saved in the directory structure. However, some weird things: - I removed my whole music library - I changed my Folder datestamps to orginal "date created" with mulitcommander - changed settings to: - added folder back to Emby as music library. In this case, nothing is localy stored, BUT - folder timestamps "date modified" is changed to scan date BEFORE SCAN AFTER SCAN this is annoying for backup procedures, other tools that scan my folders etc.. another more important thing: my music libray was NOT updated: still no artwork for (album)artists: it seems that my old database is still in charge. Is there something I have to clean/delete before adding the music folder to emby? grtz B
