Hello,

Is it possible to use MPC as an external player using the web client ?

Thank you

Try the remote control mpc-hc app and use it as the play to device when using the web client, works great

is it still compatible with the last released of emby ?

i can't make it work, it never appears when i hit the "play" button of the web browser, then "external player". i just have vlc :(

browser's can't launch programs. someone built an addon for mpc but they haven't been around lately. a new contributor might have to step up and see if it needs to be updated.

It still works ok for me

Note you must select it in the cast menu (select cast button in top right) then just play the item you want and it will be cast to mpc-hc

I'm still using it and it works well (most of the time).

Sometimes you'll have to open and close it's settings dialog for emby to see it and add it to the list of clients so you can select it.

Occasionally MPC-HC will become non-responsive on launch via this method, but a second launch works.

Just installed the app and MPC-HC  and didn't have any issues "Playing to".

Only issue was setup, exe failed for app but log pointed me to http://jigal.uk/MPCRemote/MPCRemote.application and it installed.

Many thanks my friends.

I been trying these before without any luck so far, the script is old, and wanted old emby server, I found out from the log of the script, so it can not see the server to play anything.

I finally manage to make it work:

The key was to add "http" to the setting to be like this:

http://localhost:8096/

But I need to see what wrong with my display driver, it simply crashed mpc-hc :)

Well done.

Another user of this here and yup still works great, have been using it constantly in my living room since it's release, glad others are discovering this :)

It also works with the MPC-BE variation (which I believe is slightly more customisable with skins/themes) and another big benefit is that both MPC-BE or HC can be configured to do hardware decoding for both AMD and Intel chips using MADVR and LAVSplitter. More here for anyone intersted: http://wiki.mikejung.biz/Windows_8.1_MPC-HC_and_MadVR_Setup_Guide
