goverton 1 Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Can we add a video pass thru option to the transcode settings? I have a roku directly connected to a TV that doesnt support DTS/DD, which unfortunately means that everything that doesnt have 2 channel audio is being transcoded. Which is virtually everything, putting my server under massive strain. If we had video pass thru and the transcoder was only downmixing the audio then I wouldnt need to use folder sync to pre-transcode everything (which is great having the option, but a bit painful).

That is already what it does - provided the video actually is in a format the device can consume.
goverton 1 Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 Interesting. Thats not what I've seen. I've manually downmixed the audio only with handbrake and the resulting files stream directly whereas the original is transcoded (video + audio). How do you determine what the client supports? I'll try testing some more.

And, what are you basing your conclusion that video is being transcoded upon?
goverton 1 Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 The resolution reported when I click OK on the roku remote is different to the original.
ebr 15579 Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Then something - could be settings in the app or capabilities of the device - is telling us it needs to be different from the original. One caveat here is that I don't think we can do a straight stream copy anymore when we transcode because of issues with HLS streaming.
