In between all the crashes, I enabled passwords. After enabling password access, I can't do anything.

I am using MediaBrowser on my server which I connect with VPN.

My os is Debian. 

My Libraries are from 2 servers, shared via NFS 4. I also did/do use the same Libraries with Plex without any problems.

 

I installed and I am testing mediabrowser since this week. Even though it's more of a CPU hog and less consistent than Plex, Multiuser functionality and other good stuff made me want to switch over.

So far, not that good.

 

I had some problems such as:

 

All of a sudden Media Browser stops responding. 

service mediabrowser status lists MB as running. Though it is not. It refuses even my curl -I requests.

The only way to fix that is to stop AND start it again.

 

I thought I could live with it. As long as I add a service to monitor if it responds to my requests with a 200 code or restart it if need be.

 

But today I tried entering password.

Well... I wish I didn't.

...

 

Now I can't do nothing...

I do start MB, I get the login screen. I do enter my password, I see the server config page. 

But as soon as I try entering either "My preferences" or  try clicking Home, I am booted out back to signin page. Also, When I even mouseover the Emby menu on top left side of the screen, I got kicked out.

 

I tried it in different browsers.

Tried it after clearing the cache.

 

Restarted, stopped, started mediabrowser service several times.

Fruitless.

See all those access denied errors. The server doesn't have write access to it's own data folder. So first thing to do is take care of that

Ooops,

 

Actually I fixed those. But after posting this here.

And after a few restarts the logging in part is fixed as well as left menu not opening.

 

I do feel bit stupid ^^

 

My random crashs still continue.

Please see my reply to embyfan in the thread that he linked. I am thinking maybe a recent package upgrade in Ubuntu screwed over Mono 3.10.

Indeed, I have seen Emby do create a temp file when I wanted to play a file but didn't let me play it. It just stood blank whilst transcoding the whole file in my temp directory. I couldn't play the file or anything else. I had to restart it.

This is Debian, not ubuntu but... Just in case I upgraded Mono to mono-complete 3.12.

I compiled my own imagemagick but due to dependency issues with imagemagick-common package I couldn't use it.

I compiled the latest webp from source and installed it.

I compiled my own ffmpeg as well but I don't know if Emby will choose to over the one included in it.

Now, I'll test it.
I did backup and replace the ImageMagickSharp.dll file as well.

 

Now I hope these will suffice.

I'll test and report if it gets fixed.

I actually meant to say that the problem was in a Debian package as the problem exists for Debian-based distros. My bad. :)

Also, if you have trouble with 3.12, try downgrading to 3.6. Mono 3.12 hasn't worked well for most of the people who have installed it. I am just having you try something I saw on the Sonarr forums.

It's up and running right now.

It did have some hickups but...

 

For example I tried opening a file.

It made me wait for a while. Checking the temp folder I saw that 1/3 of the file was processed. Only then it started playing. I skipped to the latter half of the video file, the temp file got reset but this time I didn't even wait.

Trying other movies, no error right now. But then again, I do have to wait and watch some stuff to be sure.

 

Seeing other people had problems with it, I deleted the People folder and ran the scheduled task manually.

It completed without an error but now I don't have the pictures I had in People section. Also the folder has downsized to 15mb from ~220mb

 

Also in most cases systemctl restart mediabrowser.service didn't do the job. I had to stop and restart.

Not playing problem continues.

It says FFMpeg exited with code 0 and partial stream is deleted but that partial stream is not deleted and FFMpeg continued processing till it processed the whole file.

After that... Nothing happens.

 

And yeah, like before I can't just say OK, let me watch something else instead. Because it doesn't play other files either. Also even though I try to open other files, it doesn't record anything else to the log file afterwards.

Glad to hear that it is at least working now.

I imagine that the first thing Luke would tell you to do is to downgrade Mono to 3.10 but since we know that won't work, try downgrading to 3.8 or below and see if that fixes the file not playing issue. The problem is probably related to something in HTTP and as I mentioned above, Mono has some problems with the HTTP stack in 3.12.x.

 

Mono is undergoing some major upheavals at the moment since Microsoft open-sourced the .NET framework so that is probably why Mono is a bit unstable at the moment. The Mono team is integrating the Microsoft source so things are probably going to be rough for a little while, but in the long run, Mono is going to get really good.

Indeed, a downgrade to 3.10 wouldn't help me. Since the problems originated at 3.10.

 

I rebuilt ffmpeg like below; it's not exactly the same though but similar, and replaced the 27mb original ffmpeg file with the one I compiled (17mb... I don't know why)

 

Now I'm giving it a try as well.

Hi!!!

 

I have same trouble than nomadturk.

When pptp conection is disconnected, Mediabrowser service falls and is need start manually

 

My log is exactly equal.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object
System.NullReferenceException

I use Debian 8 and mono 3.10

For the moment, i create a script in cron that check this mediabrowser service is running. If service is not running, start service.
