How "Instant" is the Trakt Plugin?

Hi,

 

Due to a PC crash I had to re-install mediabrowser server from scratch.  I am importing the watched status from Trakt for all 4 users but not everything is syncing although the task finishes without errors.  Some TV & most if not all movies are now synced but there are a lot of shows that are saying unwatched but if I go to the Trakt website it shows them as watched? is it something that is gradual or do I have a problem?

 

*Note, I know that 2 of the users have not watched anything, Trakt is only important for the 2 that show watched status.

I am guessing this isn't a patience thing as nothing has changed :-( although Trakt is working according to the log above and is certainly syncing some items it is just not syncing everything and not giving an error?

You'll always get an "unauthorized" response if you paste the url in the browser.

Oh really? That's good to know @@Redshirt . Is there a way to troubleshoot this problem otherwise? I've been also having issues as you know :) Half the content does not get reported to Trakt and there is no errors in the log.

 

I really want to help and I have time on my hands  :)

I copied all of the userdata folder before I uninstalled, is the watched information in there somewhere? I have a very "Annoyed" daughter giving me a lot of grief over this :-(

Also, just to check I am only running Import playstates from Trakt.tv, I haven't selected Sync library to trakt.tv Just want to check that is correct :-)

@@mbc0, this is correct. Is there a Trakt account linked to your daughter's MediaBrowser account? Or are you using the same Trakt account for all 4 (well, 2) users?

Hi mate, I have configured trakt with 4 different users but only 2 are in use. each account has its own individual username but The problem exists for both users. So 4 different accounts on trakt

Right now, I don't think I've experienced this issue, but I'm going to test to make sure and let you know. I think Trakt syncs using the TVDB ID....Is there a TVDB ID attached (via the metadata manager) to the content that's not syncing, like so?

I removed the TVDB ID from my Game of Thrones (I left the ones at season and episode level) and it lost its watched status instantly. I then tried to import the playstate from Trakt, where Game of Thrones was marked as watched, but it didn't sync with MediaBrowser Server. After I refreshed Game of Thrones via the metadata manager, it re-added the TVDB ID. When I tried to import the playstate again and it synced properly.

 

I guess, make sure the problematic content is identified properly. Hopefully, if the problem persists, someone will be able to figure it out for you.  :mellow:

Thanks so much for your time and going to the hassle of testing that for me, I really appreciate it! 

 

Unfortunately that does not seem to be my problem though...   For this example I am using Angry boys... As you can see Trakt knows I have watched them all but media browser thinks I have not even though I have a TVDB ID.  But for the series "The 100" both Trackt & Media Browser have synced.. even though they have the same information... all pictures are below and if you can think of anything else I would really really appreciate it!

I'm just thinking since it didn't give any errors, it must skip them somehow....Are all the correct directories monitored by the Trakt plugin?

I must have it configured correctly as I only have my TV & Movie Pools monitored and some TV and some Movies are syncing with Trakt and they are all in the same file location... I am sure this is going to be something daft! :-(  Thanks again for the brainstorm!

is there someone here who can do some coding with the trakt plugin? you might be onto something about it skipping the files for some reason. so what we need to do now is improve the logging in the plugin to capture that information.

Ok, an update guys...Firstly, yes I do have all the metadata stored in the media folders, and I changed yesterday the option in metadata from the default xbmc to mediabrowser.xml I am not sure if this is the reason but Angry boys has changed to watched for both users in question! As far as I can tell this is the only series that has now updated since I first reported this error. The other thing I have noticed is that the .nfo file has a date stamp of 16/11/2014 instead of 14/11/2014 which all the other episodes have because that is when I re-installed the server from a complete uninstall removing all trace. BUT for example I have "The Life Of Rock With Brian Pern" which has .nfo files of 14/11/2014 but mb is reporting that as watched.  Where is mb getting the watched status from? if I look at the .nfo files they report the same information on the playcount? Both "Angry Boys" and "Bad Education" show the same data in their episode .nfo files even though "Angry Boys" is now showing as watched and "Bad Education" is still showing as unwatched?

This has worked before! I rebuilt my server a few months back from WHS2011 & Installed Windows 7 and then the trackt app restored all my watched status for both users... something must have changed?  I am running the trakt update now and will post the log :-)
