FDFMobileApps 1 Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Hi everyone We are looking at getting a dedicated audio playing app for Emby up for closed testing on PlayStore shortly, and was wondering if people might be interested it trying it out and providing feedback? Features: Android Auto support Chromecast support Download media onto device via WiFi/Mobile for complete offline support - can search, mix and play content without access to your server Filter content, such as genres, artist albums, album artists by years and genre Playlists - create playlists, automatically download new content added - in the case of offline playlists. Resume playback of last positions in playing queues, audiobooks and albums, etc. Open to any suggestion for other features.... Please note: This will not be a free app - it will be a full featured trial, which upon expiry will require a once off purchase At this stage the app will be Android only, no iOS just yet unfortunately Alpha version will be available shortly, pending interest in testing and feedback.
vincen 31 Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Hi Thanks for the info but what will it bring as extra that Symfonium is not doing already ? Vincèn 1
FDFMobileApps 1 Posted June 26, 2024 Author Posted June 26, 2024 Not looking to compare apps at all - there are several for Emby. Choice, variety, options: people like different things, different apps, different cars, and so forth. The app will be ready for release to testing shortly.
hthgihwaymonk 32 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 how will your app interact with emby ? will it try and generate its own metadata locally on the device or use what emby already provides?
FDFMobileApps 1 Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 Hi It uses the metadata from the Emby server, the app does not use its own metadata. Part of the motivation behind the app was to keep the UI as simple and functional as possible, whilst providing the capability of filtering, downloading and mixing up tracks as effectively as possible without having the interface too cluttered, confusing or difficult to navigate. Metadata is managed solely by the Emby server as far as the app goes - when tracks are downloaded to a device, for example in the case where people would like to make albums, artists, playlists available offline - the app will download images, notes, logos and so forth from the server at that point to have them available offline. It does not, however manage the metadata after that point. 1
