Mohamed13 3 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Hello. I'm in app.emby.media website and I want to know where I can find a host to connect to the server.
GrimReaper 3799 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 You need to have your own server installed and configured or someone need to share their server with you. https://emby.media/support/articles/Quick-Start.html Quote Emby is NOT a media streaming service. We provide no content. Emby is a Personal Media Server platform. You must have your own server installed and your own media (or Live TV tuner). 1
pwhodges 1747 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Your server is where you have installed it; or otherwise where your friend who is letting you use their server has installed it. Emby the organisation makes software for you to use; it is not a media provider. https://emby.media/support/articles/Quick-Start.html Paul 1

GrimReaper 3799 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Settings>Dashboard should tell you both your LAN and WAN addresses.

GrimReaper 3799 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Local or remote access? In any case, check connection troubleshooters and post which steps worked and which did not. https://emby.media/support/articles/Connectivity.html https://emby.media/support/articles/Remote-Setup.html 1
pwhodges 1747 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 If localhost works but another computer on the network doesn't, Then (assuming you're on Windows) check that the server machine's network is set to "Private". Paul

Paul I'm using the same machine and I make network private, but it is the same.
pwhodges 1747 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 If using the same machine doesn't work, how did you get the screenshots? Paul
Mohamed13 3 Posted October 9, 2023 Author Posted October 9, 2023 3 minutes ago, pwhodges said: If using the same machine doesn't work, how did you get the screenshots? Paul I used light short to screenshot the area I want it.
pwhodges 1747 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Ah, I see; what you meant was that setting the network Private didn't help. As a test, to see if it's where the issue is, can you access Emby if the Windows firewall is turned off on the server computer? Paul

pwhodges 1747 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Let's get basic - can you ping the server machine from another? (at a command prompt just type "ping 192.168.0.23") Paul

pwhodges 1747 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 OK. Next, forget app.emby.media; in your browser just go directly to http://192.168.0.23:8096 Paul

pwhodges 1747 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 I think there's some misunderstanding here; localhost is whatever machine you are running on. Aren't you trying to access your Emby from a different machine? - in which case it would seem that you have succeeded. But where is it telling you that you are connected to localhost? Paul

Paul So what is the difference between the local host and app.emby.media? When I type "http://192.168.0.23:8096" in a web browser it will take me to Localhost.
pwhodges 1747 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 No, it will not take you to localhost, which is the machine you are running your browser on - it will take you to the machine with the address 192.168.0.23 It also occurs to me that app.emby.media will connect using https by default - try starting it with http://app.emby.media to force using http and see if you then get what you expect. Paul

Paul But it is. Look at 2 screenshots.
