Hello,

Since some days, I see on some of my movies this strange behaviour (see attached).

On some movies, it occurs at every subtitles displayed. Other times, only 1 subtiles per 3 or 4.

I always use SRT format.

Occurs on my Samsung SmartTV.

Any idea ?

Thanks

Thanks. Is it possible to downgrade Samsung App to check if it's a regression ?

Don't find archives of past versions ?

I was in 1.4.6 and try to upgrade to last 1.4.8, but same problem.

Do I have to open a topic in Samsung TV category, as it seems clearly a Tizen App issue.?

No problem with same movie on web browser on windows.

Open up the SRT file and see if there is a starting command with WEBVTT. See: https://www.3playmedia.com/blog/how-to-create-a-webvtt-file/

Hello. No, it's a plain SRT file, not a webvtt.

This is the top of the file :

1
00:00:06,382 --> 00:00:08,384
Like a Virgin,
c'est l'histoire d'une fille

And the line of my screenshot.

24
00:01:08,486 --> 00:01:12,824
que j'ai retrouvé dans un manteau.
C'était quoi, son nom ?

Those x-timestamp informations seems added by the App. And doesn't appears on previous versions of samsung App (or else I would have noticed).

@KarlHungus67 can you please confirm your TV model? Thanks

It's a serie 6, from 2016. Reference : UE55KU6000

Always use, since years, the usb install for the app.

I have upgraded to 1.4.6 maybe 1 month ago. I'm nearly sure it occurs from that point.

Saw this problem on a new movie some weeks ago, and thought the subtiles were badly coded or something like that.

But when I've watched again an old movie from my library 3 days ago and see also this problem, I think about an app issue.

I think something might have changed in the server as the app hasn’t changed. I’ll check it out, we might need to make a change in the app

Ok, I'm lost now 🤔

Downgrade the server up to 4.7.1, and still same issue.

Must have miss something, but it's impossible I've missed this issue since months....

Could it be in 1.4.6 or 1.4.8 app ? But can't downgrade to test...

Can you please send me a snapshot of the Now Playing info from the server dashboard during playback when you're having this issue?

 • 2 weeks later...

Can you please enable debug logging on the server, run the task to rotate the log file, then test this again?

Please send me the server log and any ffmpeg logs that are created for this test

You can turn off debug logging once you're done

Thanks, that helped. It's only an issue for internal SRT/subrip (not external) on older devices.

We had a fix for this, but I removed it 15 months ago. I can't recall why, but you're the first person who's noticed! I've put it back, so it should be fixed in the next USB release.

Did you recently change from the store install to using the USB version, or from a very old USB version to a more recent one?

Thanks.

When you says "internal" srt, you mean srt embedded in MKV ? (all my mkv are in this case).

Never use the store install, but always USB (as I'm in France, so no emby on store). Updated the app recently, but before, I'm not sure it was a version so old....but perhaps...

Strange it doesn't appears on every mkv files... Only for some.

Will wait for next update 👍

Correct. srt files embedded in media are detected as subrip .

You may have had a very old USB version before I removed this fix, and before Samsung enforced the 30 day limit. Should be fine for next release
