Have a issue where playback history is not being recorded. It is very specific, while using a browser it records as normal. position in a file and what you have played and what you have not. However on the Emby apps it does not. If i mark something as played it will indicated it has been played with the green tick, but when i go back into the episode it shows as unplayed. if i do it again it gets a error about cant file the a file. I am busy with a library scan at the moment as soon as that has completed i will upload log files.

Thanks, remember I am viewing on LG on horizontal view mode. Just a pain the way it resets to top of library list when navigating back from an artist (or when music vide has played and you press back). Great if you could fix and make usability much better as a result.

That look would not work for me on TV. Its more like a computer UI app on a computer not "ten foot interface". I also don't like all those rails of "Recent Series", "Recently Added", "Discover", "Listen Again" BUT don't mind in the least if THOSE rails appeared under "Suggestions" menu item (like some of the other libraries). But not on main screen for a library. Just too cluttered.

I'm happy with the current FOLDERS view when in Horizontal view, but just missing the A-Z picker. In my FOLDERS view, my folders are named as GENRES (Pop, Dance, R&B) with Artists (For Music, Music Videos and Audiobooks) and for TV library, its GENRES again for folder name then the TV Show name for TV library (e.g Band Of Brothers).

logo.png in folder of the artist of music video, or online lookup if doesn't exist.

There named independently specifically to that show but maybe i need to re think that, let me test thank you for the thought

It is likely being merged/multi-versioned with some of your other Law & Order series due to naming convention used. How are your files named and organized?

hello, Have a set of media that is not appearing and i can't for the life of me find out why. Fairly new to Emby and would love some assistance if anyone has any ideas as to why its no. Media is the same format as others, can only see i being a name issue. Media in question is Law and order 1999 and i think its somewhat getting confused as i also have the other law and order series Hope this makes sense.

@Lukeany feedback on this as it has basically made watching emby on TV impossible unless use Kodi which I'm not a fan of as this seems to be happening on all android TV devices regardless of whether I use the android TV app or the standard Android App. Could it be something caused by an update to the android TV OS?

Was this a realtime sync, means Kodi was online all the time?

Just posting back after my tests. Seems I was using the m3u from tvh, and this was pixelated in emby and in VLC - so not an emby issue. I then tried the tvheadend plugin and I had issues with the setup. I then went back with native emby to HDHomerun - and that is working. A while back a beta broke that and hence I moved to back m3u - but i guess that was fixed again for native emby sometime since. So for me - the issue is the m3u provided by TVHeadend that was the issue here.

I tried to use Emby for ATV 2.1.10g, but the projector and the tablet still have the same playback error. By the way, I also have an Android emby client that can play normally: Xiaomi phone, Android 14, Snapdragon 870, which supports all formats like redmi TV.

@ebr I've had a chance to look at my daughters Chromecast with TV and her TV reports single refresh and resolution rates like the shield and hers doesn’t change refresh rates either and again Netflix has no issues doing it. It looks like emby tries to change as does mine and fails but emby reports that it’s changed. Play a fast moving tv show or movie and motion judder occurs continuously and noticeably. Go in manually and switch while playing and emby changes it to the correct refresh rate. Emby is still not changing refresh rates even when one res/refresh rate is shown.

I deployed the Emby Server 4.9.0.15 beta version on Synology NAS (I also tried the 4.8.5.0 stable version), mainly using the client (version 3.3.79) including the following devices: - Redmi TV, Android 11, MediaTek MTK9650 - JMGO Projector, Android 11, MediaTek MT9671 - Regular tablet, Android 7.1.2, Rockchip RK3399 I am sure that the hardware performance of these devices can fully play 4k hevc 60fps or even 4k av1 hdr 60fps encoded video. I can play it normally using the system default player, Cx File Explorer, and VLC player. So I directly disabled the transcoding function on the server, that is, [Server - Users - Playback] unchecked [Allow video transcoding, if necessary, during me Dia playback], but when I use the Emby client, except that Redmi TV can play 4k hevc video, my projector and tablet will trigger client transcoding. In addition, when playing 4k av1 hdr and 4k vp9 videos (if supported by the hardware itself), Emby is also normal.Only the most common movie encoding format 4k hevc will make an error, which makes me very confused. I have tried the latest 3.3.79 and previous versions, but the results were the same. I guess maybe Emby's underlying player ExoPlayer doesn't call the system decoder library correctly? Can you check and fix this bug as soon as possible? After all, the system's default player, CX File Explorer, and VLC are all working fine on the same device, but they can't use emby's beautiful interface and synchronize the playback progress.
