Introducing Emby for LG Smart TV's

Installation

Users with an LG Smart TV can install now from the LG App Store. The app currently supports LG Smart TV's running Web OS 3.0+. We are working on update to support older versions of Web OS.

A Modern App for Modern Times

The interface for this app has been built with HTML, but this is nothing like the web apps you're accustomed to. This has been built purely with modern features that bring a level of performance that wasn't even possible a year ago at this time.

Rediscover your Content with Recommendations

A popular feature from other Emby apps is finally making it's way to Emby Theater.

New Music Interface

The app finally has a design that makes sense for music.

Details Gone Vertical

A common complaint over the detail screen of the current Emby Theater is that it's pretty but slow to navigate. We went back to the drawing board and decided to take a little inspiration from Android TV. It is now much, much faster to browse through detail screens.

Learn How to Create Skins

Can you do HTML and JavaScript? Then why not fork the default skin?

Let us know what changes and improvements you're able to come up with. You can even release your forked version to the Emby community!

Hi, the app is already in the store, but not for all devices. What LG model do you have?

Hi @Luke any updates on TV model 65UP7000PUA

been wanting to use emby on it please

I recently purchased an 50NANO85UPA in Canada, and I can't find the App in the app store at all, but it shows up as a DLNA server under sources, doesn't seem to be all that reliable.

Will there be a Canuck release of the app, or is it that my TV isn't supported and I'll need to go back to Plex?

What is needed to add those extra models? Can any release dates be given?

Hi Luke

I'm glad with the new version, but I have 2 problems.

On WebOS 4.0 while I'm browsing across the movies/series, etc... (with the magic remote down button) the scroll down stops after 3-4 click, but with the wheel (center OK button/wheel) the scroll works properly. On WebOS3.5 I don't see any problem like this.

Other problem: I don't find the Folder view in Movies/Series/etc..

Best regards!

Anyone encounter playback error?

"No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details."

Restarting server sometimes helps. Sometimes not. Other devices are working fine. LG OLED48A16LA.

Hi Luke!

We're running WebOS 4.3.10 but I'm not able find Emby on the LG app store, is there anything wrong with this particular OS version? What am I missing?

Our TV model is 55lb5800, and we're in Canada if it is relevant.

Thanks for all your hard work!

That will be the firmware version, not webOS version.  You need to go a bit deeper in the About this TV menu to get the webOS version
