    Overview: Media access rules

Media-access rules apply account and resource policies to particular libraries or rating-related content.

A viewer's permitted library set and a rating restriction describe different policy inputs. Unknown or incomplete rating information can also require an explicit rule. These pages explain the resource decision without confusing it with the server process's filesystem permissions or the mere existence of an item in the catalogue.

    • Library access permissions
Library access permissions scope which media an application user may request, with library/folder policy separate from the server process’s filesystem access and client presentation choices.

    • Rating-based access restrictions
Rating-based restrictions compare supplied content metadata within the configured rating scheme and unknown-content policy, adding a distinct condition to other library and account access rules.
