Overview: User identity and access
Media-server access connects accepted identity and session state with the rules governing requested resources.
Reaching the server is followed by another decision: who is making the request and what that identity may do. Sessions supply a continuing authentication relationship, while library and rating rules govern particular media access. The two branches keep identity evidence separate from the resource decision.

Identity and session concepts distinguish authentication evidence, account scope and permission decisions.Media access rules
Media-access rules apply account and resource policies to particular libraries or rating-related content.
