    Overview: Media server APIs

Media-server APIs expose supported operations and state through defined request, credential and response contracts.

An integration needs to identify the operation it is asking for and the meaning of the returned result. Payloads, pagination, credentials and rate limits shape that exchange, while session data describe current players. This branch supplies those contracts before the result is used in another application.

    • What is a media server API?
A media server API exposes documented operations and data so another program can query or control supported server behavior.

    • Requests and responses
API requests and responses connect HTTP operations with typed payloads and bounded observations of result sets.

    • API credentials
API credentials provide request evidence under the server's user-authentication or integration-key contract.

    • API rate limits
API rate limits bound request activity within a defined scope and interval, so clients need to coordinate polling and retry timing.

    • Playback sessions
A playback session describes a current client relationship and player state, distinct from the user, device label and media item involved.
