    Overview: API credentials

API credentials provide request evidence under the server's user-authentication or integration-key contract.

A user token and a static API key represent different authentication relationships. Their acceptance and revocation affect later requests without automatically supplying permission for every operation. These topics identify the credential's role before the integration's effective access is evaluated.

    • API authentication tokens
An authentication token supplies request evidence associated with an accepted login or credential, while user labels and device identifiers do not authenticate by themselves.

    • API keys
An API key is a static credential for a documented integration context, allowing access to be tracked and revoked separately from other integrations.
