jaaem 4 Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 (edited) Hello, This is a follow-on to the locked thread: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/48959-follow-symlinks-not-working/ I have verified this is partly an android<->windows issue. When I run a Kodi client on another windows system (not the Windows server), it is able to follow the symlinks. When the client is my FireTV, it will not follow the symlink. This issue can be demonstrated on the native Kodi Filebrowser, so it has nothing to do with Emby. On Windows, Emby and EmbyCon plugin both work if using direct links. However, on Windows EmbyCon does not work with "HTTP Direct Stream" and Emby wont work if you select "Play from HTTP instead of SMB". EmbyCon "HTTP Transcode" mode always works, both windows and android. I tried this last on Emby .Net Core Version 3.2.32.9 beta Perhaps there will be a way for the server or plugin to check if it is link and serve the original file so it will work better on android Edited October 1, 2017 by jaaem
Angelblue05 4132 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I'm not sure what you are saying. Please provide additional info: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/17599-how-to-report-a-problem/
jaaem 4 Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 I solved the issue by using NFS instead of smb. The smb library on FireTV version of Kodi will not follow symlinks on my windows server. I installed an NFS server (https://www.hanewin.net/nfs-e.htm) and switched the path substitution to the nfs format ( nfs://server-ip/path/to/nfs/share), and now Direct Paths works on the Kodi Emby Plugin. 1
