Roku Plugin not working right

I am running the lastest Beta, 3.0.5597.0, and the latest Roku plugin, 30.5596.27309. Which I have noticed a lot of my files not getting bif files created. It looks like it is because of this:

2015-04-29 12:25:38.1805 Debug - App: Profile: Roku Thumbnails, Path: \\ROBINSON-MEDIA\media\TempTV\Gotham\Season 1\Gotham - S01E21 - The Anvil or the Hammer.mp4, isEligibleForDirectPlay: True, isEligibleForDirectStream: True
2015-04-29 12:25:38.1805 Debug - App: Profile: VideoCodecProfile, DirectPlay=false. Reason=Roku Thumbnails.VideoFramerate Condition: LessThanEqual. ConditionValue: 30. IsRequired: False. Path: \\ROBINSON-MEDIA\media\TempTV\Gotham\Season 1\Gotham - S01E21 - The Anvil or the Hammer.mp4

Which shows that the VideoFramerate Condition is LessThanEqual. But shouldn't it be DirectPlay if it is less than equal to the setting? Any help would be awesome. I can even post full log's if need?

Also please move if this is the wrong area.

What is  the media info for that episode?  From what you posted I would assume "VideoFramerate" is higher than 30.

Thank you. I didn't even look at that. I just did and it is 59.94006. I know in the past though that this worked. Because the first episode in that series has the same frame rate.

Thank you @@Happy2Play. Do you happen to know what the Roku thumbnail plugin setting's are?

I don't think this is related to Framerate as I have a movie that isn't getting a bif file created and it has a Framerate of 23.97602.

It looks like it may be the Ref frames. This is a 5 but the Roku BIF creator need a 4 or less. Which I don't recall seeing before is that something new? Or it may be a combination of things. Any help from a Dev would be awesome.

Luke,

This is what I found for this movie in the log's

2015-05-06 08:27:12.4324 Debug - App: Profile: Roku Thumbnails, Path: \\ROBINSON-MEDIA\media\Movies\Paddington (2014)\Paddington (2014).mp4, isEligibleForDirectPlay: True, isEligibleForDirectStream: True

But this is happening on a lot of my files. When it use to work just like on the one I showed that started this thread. I really do appericate your help and all that you and the team have done.

Edit: If you need more log file let me know. It is to big to upload to the paste2 site.

Luke, What are the exact setting's for the Roku Thumbnailer? I am not seeing any reason why some of my stuff is getting thumbs and some isn't. Nothing is the same between them. So It looks.

The latest Roku Thumbnailer Update, 3.0.5605.19388, fixed 23 of my shows not getting BIF's. I will do some more digging into the other shows. Thank you for the update.

Anyone able to tell me what I need to do to get these files fixed so they can get BIF files.

I ran into this too. It wants videos that have 4 or less reframes, and 30 or less fps. Even though the roku3 will play the files directly I think it is trying to maintain compatibility with all the older roku boxes that could not handle them.

I had to re encode some of my files.

@@farside847, What did you use to re encode? Also re encoding also fix the IsAnamorphic issue?

farside847

I use mcebuddy for a lot of TV recordings With a profile based on the roku profile.

Rokoding.com also has good setup info for handbrake for movies

Yes this can also convert to non anamorphic

Do you mind sharing a screen shot of the mcebuddy? Also how do you do the commercial cutting, show analyzer or comskip?

Ok, I know this may come off as me being upset. Which I kinda of am. Everything was working great with the roku plugin until two verison ago. I dont mind having to re encode my stuff but when the only reason it wont create a bif is because we are looking to see if the file is scalable. Sounds weird.

Anamorphic - having or producing unequal magnifications along two axesperpendicular to each other.

I understand wanting that feature in the file but why do we need to check for it in a BIF(Base Index Frames) which dont even show full screen? Please tell me I am not losing my mind when it comes to this feature.

P.S. I have even ran files back through handbrake and still get the same results. Even using Rokoding's 480p Film setting's.

I am using comskip with the default settings. Works pretty well but ymmv.

After you re encoded did you refresh the video in mediabrowser? It may be still seeing the old video specifications.

My biggest gripe is framerate. Most of my recordings are variable framerate around 60. Encoding these at 30 makes some videos less than perfect during action. It works pretty well most the time. Just not petfect

Still looking for ways to improve but I think it just comes down to the fact that the roku needs to add support for TV video standards.

After re encoding I did not refresh but I didn't need to. I used a different folder to store the new encoding in. See the different paths between the pic in post 12 and post 18. My biggest gripe is this worked for the longest time no issue's. Both my rip's and recording worked. Even with the frame rate being up in the 59 range. I do apologize for the rudeness last night I was just having a bad day and want this to work like it did. Also waiting to hear back from other devs that I am trying to help test stuff for.

What profile are you using in MCEBuddy? post-348-0-82836100-1431566223_thumb.png I was just using the standard one and everything worked. It wasn't until more recently that it stopped working. Maybe two versions ago I think.

I use the profile called "roku" in mcebuddy
