trekflix 6 Posted May 26 Posted May 26 @Luke I'd like to inform you that the new update (Version 4.9.5.0) has resolved the subtitle issue on LG TVs. It took a while, but it's finally here. Thank you! 1
SYN01 13 Posted May 26 Posted May 26 It's not fixed for those of us running v10. We are waiting for the LG TV client to be updated. 1

SYN01 13 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 It's the client code running on the TV that needs to be updated. Not the server code. 2
bruceas 1 Posted May 28 Posted May 28 but now, with this version of LG client and an old windows server version it is working!!!!

I think there was more than one issue with both server and client side issues. This is why it has taken a few goes to fully resolve, and for some the server fix is enough and others need the client fix 1 1

I have an LG C7 (2017) too with the same issue, subtitles in the top left, doesn't matter what language it is. Weird characters showing for non-english too. I can confirm I fixed the issue by rolling back from Emby Server 4.9.3.0 to 4.9.1.90. I am using the latest Emby client on LG TV 1.0.50 also. Could help me? How did you return to version 4.9.1.90? I also have an LG TV. Thanks!

If you have lots of MKV files with embedded subtitles and need the subtitles a lot then it may be worth going back to the older version, but if you can put up with it a bit longer and download SRT files instead of embedded, you may save yourself a bunch of work. That's my strategy at the moment as given the developers have submitted the updated client code to LG for approval, it may not be much longer now.

I think you will likely cause more issues trying to downgrade the server. I would suggest waiting for the client update which should be soon
