No, I talking about Emby’s settings. Best available is in Firestick’s settings.

Correct. Do you get direct play with audio software decoding in SFN?

Fire Stick 4K can't handle that. That's a different issue.

Why does it work fine with Plex then? :(

Maybe Plex is transcoding.

Ok how do I force Emby to transcode automatically just for this one movie when playing locally in the home network please? Seems to work fine like that on Emby.

Because Fire Stick does not support more than 35 Mbps, in the application preferences it would set 35 Mbps as the maximum bitrate on the local network.

Ok I will set 35 Mbps on the Emby app on the Fire Stick 4k.

Thanks!

Hopefully that helps.

The only had the selection for 30 Mbps and 40 Mbps on the Fire Stick 4k :( I chose 40 Mbps. Seems to be working though! Thankfully.

Thanks.

Hi

The Apple TV 4k shouldn’t have any problem direct playing the file.

Edit: Doesnt direct play it using emby client.

Current model specs:

Video Formats

H.264/HEVC SDR video up to 2160p, 60 fps, Main/Main 10 profile

HEVC Dolby Vision (Profile 5)/HDR10 (Main 10 profile)/HLG up to 2160p, 60 fps

H.264 Baseline Profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 fps, Simple profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

This is not true. The native Apple TV player cannot direct play MKVs, it needs to stream using HLS. Apple TV requires HLS fMP4 for HEVC, which does not support Emby and then the content is transcoded.

Using the MPV player you can play MKV HEVC HDR but using tone mapping. It does not support DTS and requires a remux that causes the same glitches.

The only way to get perfect playback is to use Infuse which supports Emby.
