4K Movies freezing

RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200

Will look for a motherboard to work with them tonight as the original one I choose will not support these effectively.

This is my final draft any comments or advise would be welcomed before I purchase this weekend.

Its way over budget (around 1K for the 5 items below), I dropped the RAM to 16GB to save a few bucks as I was advised 32 was not needed. I have a new 700W power supply have to check and see if it supports the connections for the MB. My only concern really is the Motherboard will it optimize the other components, is it lacking in anyway or is it overkill?

Hi, I am finished with my new server rebuild and still have the freezing issue once it is transcoding, it seem to have a huge buffer but still freezes when I look at a movie on my phone when not on wifi. and this is not even a 4K movie

@speechles Didnt even know it had that many subtitles anyway I deleted them and it actually worked it did not freeze will look at the entire movie later to be sure but it froze like 3 times before in the first 5 mins of the movie I just looked at nearly 10 mins and all good no freezing.  I used to run all my movies thru MKV toolnix and clean them up but got lazy and stopped will have to start doing that again didnt realize that subs could do that.

Any ideas on my other issue the Box set images.

If it is freezing on your phone when you are on data than that would more than likely be your mobile provider throttling your, or your ISP throttling you sending to mobile.  It should have nothing to do with the server.

Dont think it was my mobile provider nor my ISP because it was freezing with all the subs I deleted the subs and its not anymore I cannot look at the entire movie now but will look at it later and see, I will also restore the original movie with all the subs and try that again and see if it freezes

Boxsets Plugin is no longer used in 4.6+ versions of Emby Server.  This is now built in with control settings at the library level.

Try selecting a few collections without pics and then perform a meta-data update on them like shown in this pic

Exit back to main menu and then go back into collections to update the graphics.

Does this fix your issue?

Did it to the 3 with arrow and it came back with 4 cover images each is that the way its done now instead on one image like the 3 to the left

If you edit your Collections "library" from Library menu in the web admin what settings do you have here?

The problem with your subtitles is they are internal (embedded). The audio was not compatible. fmpeg has to direct stream copy and change the container. It is copying every single subtitle into the stream because these are embedded. Literally there are 31 subtitle streams available that ffmpeg is muxing in real time on-the-fly.

You can instead have these supplied as external SRT and keep the same subtitles. SRT is just the external form of the internal subrip. Then ffmpeg only has to mux in the subtitle in use at the moment. This doesn't mean you cannot change subtitles with SRT. But SRT only has to contain the playing subtitle while all others remain external.

For internal subrip all subtitles must be muxed. That is what was creating the burden is those 31 subtitle streams being muxed in. External SRT has huge benefits and this is just one of them.

Edit: I would even go so far to say NEVER allow internal subrip to exist in your media and always extract them to external SRT as soon as you see them and delete the embedded subrip from the media afterwards. If all you use is Emby for media this is the best combination.

Toggle that "All Languages" to ON. Sometimes Emby must be told anything is better than nothing.

@Luke Why doesn't Emby default to "All Languages" when it finds nothing for the chosen? Too many possible API hit and blow that out? Some reason? Curious..

I only speak English so don't need any of the other subs I took out all except for 1 sub and it worked without an issue. I also had another movie that shows pixelated from time to time and thought it was a bad copy turns out that it also had a lot of subs I muxed it and left 1 sub only and now it shows flawless multiple subs is really an issue will insure going forward I check all movies and remove unwanted subs.

Can you post the server log for when you Searched for images for a Collection.

But can only assume the migration from /data/collections to /metadata/collections did not go well.

I see Bad Boys Collection pulled a image from FanArt.tv.

Do you have "Download images in advance" enabled on the library?  If you enter a collection do the images populate?

By default, most images are only downloaded when requested by an Emby app. Enable this option to download all images in advance, as new media is imported. This may cause significantly longer library scans.
