3d tagged movie not showed as 3D

In the end, all I want is for the movie, let it be single or multi-version, to be filtered automatically. If it's naming convention that must be used, so be it. I have no problem with Hd, SD and 4k movie but it doesn't work with 3D movie, I have to tag them manually in a multi-version folder, and it doesn't even tag the right one unless it's the first that was added.

The only reason I talked about mediainfo is because of

So they have to be Identified as 3D.  So if Emby fails to identify then you have to flag/tag it as 3D per the option in the UI.  Now in a multi-version environment you have to split versions apart to apply the flag/tag to the proper version.

But everything you have mentioned I have yet to reproduce.  But can try more with exact example.

I'm unsure what to tell you.

3D are new in my folders. So all my folder actually contain either 1080p and/or 4k movie. I always named them using the multi-version convention like you saw in the screenshot. Once I add a 3D movie in them, the only thing that happened was adding it to the dropdown list, even using the exact name you used, with no space.

Only time it worked is when I created a new folder, added only the 3d movie, let it discover, then added the other in. This way, the main metadata file is a 3d and is detected properly.

Let's do this. I have another 3D movie to add. The current folder for it look like this:

image.thumb.png.12dadc832d3e90bbe5c7b5892d158f9c.png

As you can see, it follow the multi-version convention. I have a 3D movie to add to it. Normally, I would name it:

Captain America The First Avenger (2011) - 3D-HSBS.mkv

Is there another name you want me to give it?

All I can say is if you split your multi-versions apart via the button does you 3D version show as 3D in the UI?

What do you mean split via the button?

The button in Media Info section

I tried with my Avatar and it didn't detect my 3d as 3d. File format is:

Avatar Extended (2009) - 3D.mvc.mkv which is part of the multi-version

edit: I removed everything from the avatar folder, deleted it and now doing a scan to remove it from the DB. I'll create it again using only the 3d movie first.

ok, so now, with only avatar 3d in it, it detect as 3d using:

Avatar Extended (2009) - 3D-mvc.mkv

So the space aren't a problem.

I'll add now the non 3d in

Now, this is what I have:

Unsure why you didn't had the "3D" part in your naming in front of them when you did the test.

So yeah, it seems that it must be the main file to be detected as 3D (like the first file added). That's why my warcraft folder also display like that, but not my other where the non 3d file are the file for the metadata.

Yes there does appear to be a case issue in 3D.mvc vs 3d.mvc in this example.  @Lukeis that by design?

@cayarsthis maybe a issue in the kb as it is not completely true.

Tags are case-insensitive, so both 3d and 3D will work.

I manage to have it work with 3d.mvc. But I toyed around, renamed it
Avatar Extended (2009) - mvc.mkv
When I did that, the metadata file changed for the

Avatar Extended (2009) - 1080p.mkv  one, lost the 3D tag.

I renamed to Avatar Extended (2009) - 3D-mvc.mkv , 3D tag came back. When I do edit metadata, it reverted to the 3d-mvc file.

Ok, just tried with another movie, The Meg.

Filename was

The Meg (2018) - 3d.mvc.mkv.

I switched to

The Meg (2018) - 3d-mvc.mkv

Work. I also deleted all the -poster -folder that was associated with it. I think it's an old version of emby that were doing that

Ok.... I can't explain. Maybe there was corruption, I don't know. But now, without changing anything, Fantastic Beast is properly recognized as 3D, and the file name is

Fantastic Beast And Where To Find Them (2016) - 3D.mvc.mkv

Yes I see minor quirk do to the Multi-version and 3D naming schemes.  As Emby will now always identify as 3D in multi-version naming.  So the only way to truly know is splitting apart and verifying.

It is about CASE as - 3d.mvc.ext does not work, but - 3D.mvc.ext does.

weird since The Meg did work with 3d and not 3D. And wiki does say it's not case sensitive

You are changing context though, period vs dash.  So they are different variables.

I was doing some remote support and just getting back to this and see this thread exploded with posts.

I just moved over my Avatar to my multi-version non 3D library and have a scan going.
I'll report back what I find as well.

I have a seperate 3D as no one in my family except me has a 3D TV so I found it easier than explaining to others why they have side by side or over/under pictures of the same movie. :)

And if you used "3d hsbs"  or "3d.hsbs" instead?

I am guessing Luke has this hard coded with the kb specific variables (case sensitive).
