Additional information:

If I login with a full access account everything is ok. After I changed the access to a limited base, close the UWP app an re-open it I can see the home screen and the "loading circle". But it is an infinite loop because the libraries never get visible.

So imho it is no login error itself, it is a thing of access rights and its implementation!

Thanks for the update.

I can't enter using my users where there are libraries allowed with japanese words in the path, just relized it doesn't work and block UWP app to me or it seems to be in this way, like:

/volume1/音樂/ASIA
/volume1/音樂/OST
/volume1/VIDEO/アニメ

Another libraries without japanese seems to be ok and I can enter using my other users. I don't know if said it before, I'm using a Synology DS720+.

I don't really know if this is the real problem to fix but I wouldn't like rename my folders...

Thanks in advance.

You don't need to rename your folders. We're looking into it. Thanks.

I can say I can reproduce this.

from server

image.thumb.png.a1a51afb7a96606e7940a5d8bab1b133.png

try to login UWP app

image.thumb.png.ddc8e2b4e4ac0b31d00e1337f9d0ba58.png

Even trying to edit the user from an admin account is not possible either you get a blank page in UWP app.  Editing any user that has full access will get the same results trying to reenter user with restricted access.

image.thumb.png.c69ead33849ad837189cdaaa1b940e98.png

Even with LAN password bypass still fails.

"Enable access to all libraries" allows login

But I get mixed results connecting to a different portable on the same machine.

So as a test I created a new user with restricted access on the server that has failed access and it had no issues.  Would appear to be something with original user but not seeing.

Now I found my userid and went to that folder and backed up the policy and options xml and deleted and restarted Emby.  Login in with admin and went to user and applied all settings again and am able to login to UWP app with that user with restrictions.

v1.1.414.0

@LukeI compared the files and it was do to config.xml not updating <OrderedViews> as it maintained all the restricted libraries.  Once went to "Edit this user's profile, image and personal preferences."-Home screen for the user and edited order the xml updated and was able to login.

I can reproduce this restoring user with bad config in backup from SCB plugin.

Steps to reproduce

Go to Settings-Users-{the user}

select "Edit this user's profile, image and personal preferences." go to Home Screen and edit library order so it get written.

Go to access and restict library access

Now user can not login with UWP app

Once order is written it does not update when access is restricted.

I did this and I was able to sign in with uwp. are you sure those are the only required steps? I moved one library up to the top, then restricted and remove access to all libraries. Is that enough?

That is the steps I took on a new or existing user.  Once order was in config.xml any access restriction changes did not all login.

Once I corrected order was written to config.xml after setting access restriction user could login.

Is there anything in the server log about it?

You can see the policy.xml get update when you change access, but the config.xml does not update automatically maintaining the restricted library ids.  So until they update it appears to lock the user out at least in UWP app.

Logging in with Windows app or browser could care less with a incorrect config.xml but does honor the access restriction.

@Multiverse @arthurmv @David Patt are you able to confirm if you go to "Edit this user's profile, image and personal preferences." - Home Screen on your user that is having issues with login and change their Library order, they are then able to login?

If I change any order in WEB app meanwhile the UWP app is open it closes after save, I mean the UWP app got shutdown. It suppose to fix the login? can you detail the steps please? Thanks!

Does the problem occur with the test build of the new windows app that you have access to?

Just go to Home Screen of a user that can't log.  As admin go to Settings-Users-the user click "Edit this user's profile, image and personal preferences." then Home Screen and adjust there order, navigate away and see if they can now log in.

Doing this inside UWP app I got a blank user settings page after click on any user with login issues. Also nothing happens if I click on three dots for config the user...

Do this from the web client as the UWP has this issue.

From WEB client it seems doesn't affect the login, I got login issue yet.

It's the same on both of my laptops...

I would like to tag libraries like we doing with folders to exclude libraries with ease and have not to uncheck "Enable access to all libraries". In this way we could recover the UWP app.

You want to replace library access with tags?

I just started to apply tags to filter the content by user, but in some libraries I have several folders, music or videos. It would be better if we have an option to tag libraries like folders, apply some tags for advanced filter. It works on the UWP app
