Instalar y Actualizar Emby en Ubuntu (Terminal)

Hola amigo abro este hilo para explicar como instalar Emby en Ubuntu ya que dan por hecho que todo el mundo es un mega crack en linux.

La verdad que es super facil y no se porque no lo ponen en la misma pagina de descarga el código de instalación por terminal.

 

Para instalar Emby tenemos que pegar este codigo en nuestro terminal de Ubuntu

sudo wget https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.4.3.0/emby-server-deb_4.4.3.0_amd64.deb && sudo dpkg -i emby-server-deb_4.4.3.0_amd64.deb

En función de la versión que queramos instalar se tendrá que cambiar la versión, pongo otro ejemplo de una versión inferior.

sudo wget https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/4.4.2.0/emby-server-deb_4.4.2.0_amd64.deb && sudo dpkg -i emby-server-deb_4.4.2.0_amd64.deb

Si vais a la web de descarga de Emby https://emby.media/linux-server.html veréis que si ponéis el ratón encima del enlace os dará el enlace para modificar el código y así poder instalar la versión que vosotros queráis.

 

Y para actualizar Emby se tiene que hacer instalando la versión que queráis, es decir Emby no se actualiza por si solo y tienes que reinstalar por encima no te preocupes que no se borrara nada de lo que ya tengáis.

Solo hice un ejemplo de instalación con 2 versiones diferentes. Ya se que hay una versión mas nueva pero solo fue un ejemplo.

Esta información la tendríais que poner vosotros en la web de descarga de Emby para Linux

I think it is just a tip to install Emby on an Ubuntu headless server with a simple command.

I do something similar, but every time I go to the web I copy the link and then first I do the wget and then the dpk command.

If this command were on the download page, you could install Emby simply by copying and pasting a single command, I think the OP poster refers to this.

Si me refiero a eso que no les cuesta nada poner el código para la instalación en sistemas linux.

Como ejemplo Jellyfin lo hace en su web

I agree with vdatanet.  I installed on headless debian server and had to do the wget -  dpkg.  A one line copy past would have been nice.

Hi, you don't reinstall from scratch, you just install the new version on top of your existing version. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

Te lo digo en Español peor es lo mismo que te ha dicho el amigo @Luke la única forma de actualizar a la nueva versión es reinstalando en cima de la versión vieja.

Otra cosa, el servidor me pide que detenga emby server antes de descargar la nueva versión,que comandos debo utilizar para parar y luego iniciarlo otra vez.

No hace falta pararlo, se para automáticamente al actualizar, pero si quieres pararlo:

sudo service emby-server stop

Las opciones son stop, start, restart, status. Para más información:

Start, Stop & Restart Services in Ubuntu and Other Linux (itsfoss.com)

Pero repito, no es necesario hacerlo, yo nunca lo he hecho y nunca he tenido problemas
