xux1217 0 Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 (edited) Hi, I found a problem in firefox. Have enabled the "extract subtitle" function. I chose an external ass subtitle, then play the movie, the subtitle can't display. But when playing the movie, I turn off the subtitle, then chose the external ass subtitle, the subtitle can display. I have checked the log file, if I direct play movie with subtitle, no http request for the subititle and when chose again the subtitle, the log file have the http request. emby server version: 4.4.3.0 firefox version: 77.0.1 (64-bit) emby server system version: Debian 10 client system version: mac os 10.15.5 Edited July 14, 2020 by xux1217
Luke 39686 Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 Hi, most likely this is because the subtitle extraction is just taking a little bit of time. On some environments, the extraction could take several seconds or even several minutes. So then by the time you click it again, it's completed and is ready for use.

He is talking about external ass, so why would there be any extracting in the first place?

Luke 39686 Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Try instead just waiting a minute or so and see if the subtitles eventually start to show.

I have waited about 30 minutes, and no subtitle, unless I chose again the subtitle. I said there is no subtitle request at first, is it not strange?
