Cynful 30
@@chef Second attempt at 2.6.54 installed and runs perfect... I find myself curious as to how the hotfix broke .55 though Still fine tuning understanding of basic commands but navigation through folder structure seems relatively straight forward up to and including "play movie" which I figured by fluke Not sure if it is just my system or whether kinect control is disabled during movie playing. It also doesn't respond to vocal commands for up to a minute after I manually stop playback. Is this a built in feature and can this time be reduced if it is? Also I'll second travelmaniacs ask for a single level navigation return. Ended up with a whole mess of open levels before I remembered and cleared them by returning to main menu I'll wait for the command list before I start throwing ideas out there myself as many will probably already be covered and I just don't know the syntax to use as yet. chef 3746
@Cynful: you pretty much have broswing. "Go to {Library Name}" "Go To {Series Name}/{Movie Name}" "Season 1"/"Season 2" etc. "Episode 1"/"Episode 2" etc. "Play Media"/ "Play Movie" Then during Playback: "{Designation Name}!", then "Stop Media/Pause Media" Example: "KINECT!" Cynful 30
Can't get "Play Media" to work .. I wonder if it has to do with my designation being "Media"... I'll play around with a different designation. Might want to look at scrolling/moving commands ... big libraries make it hard to remember all the titles Also jump to commands, I notice they've included an alphabet letter index along the sidebar of the android client to make finding titles easier. chef 3746
@@Cynful Sorry about that I was in a rush and mis spelled the installer. I have to report that I may have found the culprit. I think that in the Designation Name Page, there seems to have been a discrepancy when building a speech recognition engine object. I think that when you changed the name from "Kinect" it would load a "en-US" version instead of "en-GB". I fixed it, but there are still questions to ask. 1. I can not figure out why version .54 worked and any subsequent version afterwards doesn't? 2. Why does Spaceboy experience a NULL error still after choosing the culture to load into the Speech recognizer? It is actually driving me nuts! Back to the code... line by infinite line... travelmanics 17
Hi @@chef, tested 2.6.57 today. First attempt: First run installs OK and select UK for speech profile. Go through speech training OK. Ask we to select which client I am using and MBC is there but there is also another one called MBKenect1 - no idea what this. Select MBC to be safe However, Kinect will not recognise my face. Doesnt matter where I sit (near or far) moved kinect up and down but nothing. So exit. App starts - and can control MBC a little. Success rate is about 1 in 8. Can say GO TO MOVIES, GO TO THE MAIN MENU, GO TO TV. but that is about it. OPEN command does not appear to work. checked the registry and my profile of travelmanics is showing 409 and 809 installed MDKinect and deleted the travelmanics profile 2nd Attempt re-install software OK. LEDs fine (as per first attempt). Still get this MBKinect1 when selecting client but select MBC instead Face recognition does not work again - The video is there but it does not put the bounded box around my face so exit and continue App starts but this time I get the "this is a known error and difficult to quash". Exit and start again App loads this time - success rate is about the same as the first attempt Checked the registry and my profile has been recreated but again is showing both 409 and 809 against the profile. In both attempts I selected UK as my profile but the logs keep showing "united States" My log is attached here: 28/07/2014 12:05:56 BEGIN LOG ENVIRONMENT: 28/07/2014 12:05:56 - Operating System is chef 3746
@@travelmanics This is so strange. Why the heck is the recognizer building the object with "en-US" and not "en-GB"? I will look back into the face recognition code. That code is super complicated, I hope it isn't anything serious. It literally took weeks of development to get it work. Did you do a fresh install? If face recognition images exist already in a biometric folder, then the face recognizer wouldn't initiate again. chef 3746
Two very cool things I have figured out recently. 1. If the Kinect is pointing at an open window with sun light shinning into it. and you stand inforont of the window, the Kinect can not find your face because of the sun light shining behinde you. 2. I have researched and learned a a new way of sorting the Java Script Object notation which returns from the Media Browser Server API. Most of the time the API return and sorts the information for you. However there is information that can be obtained from the server which has yet to be added to the API. information which cuts down on code and sorts faster. I have implemented this information. It should make a more reliable browsing possible.

chef 3746
When you getting a V2 kinect?? I want one but the wife... Not so much! Sent by lumia 1020 & Tapatalk Hey @@Lee, Man, unfortunatley our friends at Microsoft have made some more very bold choices when it comes to Kinect 4 Windows version 2. For instance, did you know that besides the 199.99 dollars you would spend on the sensor hardware itself, you also have to upgrade to Windows 8. Windows 7 users have reportedly purchesed the sensor without upgrading the OS, only to plug it into their computer, and be greeted with a popup message telling them that news... I just can't afford to spend that kind of money. Perhaps when the OS comes down in price, but to buy both the sensor and the OS, just seems to be a large amount of money. I want one really bad, but just can't afford it... Sadly....

travelmanics 17
@@chef For each install I always make sure I do a full install first. I.e remove the program and then delete media kinect folder in the program data folder just to make sure there are no old files that could cause an issue Over the weekend I will retest the connect. When I last tried it was midday on an unusually sunny dy in the UK. will report back and advise
chef 3746
@@Cynful @@travelmanics I put a new version together. This has so many changes, I can only hope that something good happens. You may have to remove the registry entry with your speech profile. I have realized it may take upwards of three training sessions for the recognizer to really understand you perfectly.
Cynful 30
Will install and try soon. The longer you use it the better accustomed it becomes to you as well. I've had success in running commands with a variety of inflections and tones at slower and clearer paces until the app recognises the usage then speeding up the pace of the sentence slightly until confirmed recognition, and repeating until it recognises natural speaking. Like - Shooow .... mee ... tel - e - vis - ion Shoow ... me ... tele - vis - ion Show me ... tele - vision Show me television showmetelevision all with an upward inflection to indicate a question .. then repeat with a downward inflection ... etc etc for different ways of speaking. A bit of a long process but the more you do it the faster it is to recognise latter commands and names from the library. Looks like I'm starting again
Spaceboy 2494
hi, so my MBS install is all back working ok, so i'm trying this again. tried the latest version and now i am able to choose my culture and save it but on the next screen where i believe the MB3 profiles should come up i get an unhandled exception error on the speech training. tried a clean install and removing the kinect folder in program data, no change except on the first run it couldnt establish a stable connection with the server. second time it crashed at the same point as above. let me know if i should provide more detail
