Hey, sorry I have been a little busy lately.  I just got back, and am ready to get down to business.

while I was away, something occurred to me about your particular situation.

If you haven't ever used speech recognition on windows, by that I mean you haven't ever start this stupid thing here:

Capture.PNG

Then certain Registry and Speech Folder Structures don't exists in Windows for MBKinect.

If Windows OS is a fresh install, even people who have had no issues in the past using MBKinect will find that it will throw errors.

So, let's try this:

Start > Control Panel > Ease of Access > Start Speech Recognition

Then exit out of it.

This should create the proper structure for Speech recognition on your computer....

Try, then, to start up MBKinect  and see if perhaps this stops the errors you are experiencing during first run.

I have a feeling this is the problem.

Very well. It seems to be chuggin right along. ;) got some new stuff working. But I can't upgrade to version 2 kinect because it is just too mucho net right now.

@@Spaceboy !!

$hit! That is awesome!! We'll have to put that into some sort of "how to". It seems pretty important.

Yes! Do face recognition when it is light out. But mKe sure the light isn't brightly shining behinds you, the kinect doesn't like that ;).

As for the Core Audio problem, is the "CoreAudio.dll" present in the "Media Browser Kinect" folder?

I am thrilled! I will get back to you soon.

I have a new version, which, for me on my computer, really is kicking ass!

I keep working long shifts this week and can't seem to find time to build the installer. Going to try tonight.

HOLY $HIT BALLS!

I got kinect to recognizer my ethnicity, whether I was smiling, and my freaking gender.

Just wait this version of the kinect app is going to blow your mind guys!

I finally got to the bottom of the "Spaceboy" error, and added some really neat new features.

For instance,  thanks to my new gender kinect camera color streams, even people who have profile names which can't produce a concrete gender determination (ie. Benjamin = Male, but Chef = unknown) the app can determine their their gender based on their image! Here's looking at you @@travelmanics! <--because that name was impossible to determine for a computer...

("Yes sir", "Yes Ma'am")

And, ethnicity... I couldn't believe it... it's freaking cool man....

I also, have a really well put together weather string in the new version. You just ask it for a "Weather Report", or "Check the weather" and it will give you a run down of how it is out side. I think this will be useful.

i'll say it again: Holy $hitballs!

It makes you wonder though... if I can code this in my Man-cave.... what sorts of tech does the government have??

I was working on EG plugin earlier with another member. I have a concrete EG command line structure. However the main MB Devs changed the way that the websocket sends out events, so I can trigger my own events, but I am finding it hard now to have the server trigger events.

Hey guys!

Just touching base. I have seen that perhaps there will be another speech application with speech capabilities for media browser.

Cool!

As always media browser kinect will remain free for all to use.

And I will continue use to perfect the product to the best of my ability, and get it working for all to use.

I added an ability to turn on gesture control in a new version.

It is really CPU intensive, so probably only high powered PCs will get the best results.

I spoken to many MVPs at M$ regarding the CPU being maxed out during camera use, but all of them said the same thing. The generation 1 kinects rely on the processor to do the heavy lifting. The V2 kinects have their own processors so they must be just awesome.

It is cool to gesture your way around MBC though. I will post later tonight.

I definitely hope that some day I can use a Kinect v2 with this to get around that problem as you pointed out.

Oh and I wonder if Vox commado is much of an alternative.  They pretty much discount Kinect as usable at all.  It doesn't sound like they really care to support it much.

So in that respect, I'm thankful you have done all you have create something that really does take advantage of it.

hey chef, trying to install your app. i get to the stage where you choose a profile but nothing appears there. any ideas? i have setup a new speech recognition profile in control panel.

also the part when it installs the LED filters runs but my kinect leds dont change.

im using an old xbox360 sensor im guessing theres no difference between it and the kinect for windows

Sorry for the late reply. Sorry you are having issues. I have been busy, but am getting back at it today.

One thing. Did yuo download the Proper installer?  There are two posted at the beginning of this thread.  64bit and 32bit.

I think this is your issue regarding the LEDs not changing color.

You are corrent that there is no real difference between the two kinect sensors.

I'll get it working for you.

In the meantime, I will relase a new version, which wraps it's own HTTPClient interface with the server, and creates its own commmunication.

Be in touch soon.

no worries chef, no rush for it. i'm amazed how people like you find time to make such great programs in your free time and not charge for them.

i downloaded the 64bit one as im running win7 x64. am i right in thinking i need to download the kinect sdk and developer tools first? if so i did that.

i'm not so concerned about the LED light as the kinect is kinda out of sight, main issue i had was the speech profiles. i will try on a different machine tonight see what happens.

thanks

@,

I will be at my computer tonight... finally. So, I will try (between feeding and putting the kids to bed) to get the ball rolling for you.

This will allow me to also, fix any confusing, or wrong set up directions posted in the first thread.

Just want to make sure that you have Kinect SDK Version 1.7 installed on your computer (not version 1.8).

I'll have to add that to the first thread. Also, make sure that you install the SDK before you plug-in your kinect sensor to your computer. It will make sure you have the proper drivers installed.

This also is absent in the first thread. I will make the proper corrections.

Hi @@chef

Apologies for not contributing for a while.  Work and holidays I am afraid

Just tried the latest installer 2.6.61.  Just quick point to note your installer is still referenced as 2.6.60

Install goes OK LEDs OK etc and voice recognition.  However, as advised a few entries ago face recognition no longer works.  Does not matter where I sit, near or far and doesnt make any difference whether the curtains are open or not.  Tried in the evening also and still nothing.

Also I am afraid speech recognition does not work in this version.  LEDs are all fine, showing red but I get nothing at all from the system.  Tried changing the designation also but still the same.

Log is attached below

P.S. Do you know how to get a better voice than Anna?  She is really doing my head in and sounds very unnatural
