Ghostsailor 1 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Hey guys, I am currently having an issue with audio playback while streaming over an internet browser. I tested it on Opera, Chrome, Firefox and Edge, it is all the same. My problem is that I get no audio in some episodes of a show e.g. The Mandalorian season 1 episode 4-8. When I start watching these I have absolutely no audio, but when I exit the playback and again start it at a different point in the episode the audio works fine. The strange thing is that this does not happen for episodes 1-3. They just work fine. Also this issue does not occur when I download the episodes and watch them with e.g. VLC player, neither do they make any problems with the Emby app for Android or iOS. I saw a thread where the same problem was solved with disabling Intel QuickSync but as this issue also occurs on AMD machines I do not assume it is the same solution for me aswell. I rotated the server logs, watched an episode that works fine and then watched an episode that has these issues. The files are attached. Thank you for your support. FFMPEG Log.txt Emby Log.txt
Luke 38874 Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Hi, so you're saying it's fine when you resume, but not when playing from the beginning?
Ghostsailor 1 Posted February 8, 2020 Author Posted February 8, 2020 Yes, thats right. - Start an episode -> no audio - Exit the playback - Resume playback -> audio works fine
Ghostsailor 1 Posted February 9, 2020 Author Posted February 9, 2020 Yes, thats why I attached a logfile when I watched a working and then a not wirking episode.I can hand you information about the files if you tell me what you need.
Luke 38874 Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Can you use this tool to get media info: https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo And find out, do these audio tracks have a large audio delay set in the video container?
Ghostsailor 1 Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 I attached the screenshot of a working and a non working file. The mediainfo tool states that there is a delay of 21ms in both files.
Luke 38874 Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Can you provide a sample file for testing? Thanks.
Ghostsailor 1 Posted February 17, 2020 Author Posted February 17, 2020 Sorry fo my late reply. Here is the working file: https://kits.saar-storage.de/s/JJJDikkQhUaLnxy And here is the not working file: https://kits.saar-storage.de/s/P6bHsoB4DvQ0uab
Luke 38874 Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 @@arrbee99 @@Happy2Play Are you able to reproduce with this file?
arrbee99 1661 Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 (edited) Both play fine in VLC. Bit inconsistent really. Tried in Firefox and Chrome. Both episodes play fine from the start, but both have trouble resuming play from further in. They might resume the first time you try, but after that they don't, just get spinning circle. Whenever they played they always had sound though. Could send logs, though there's lots of starting and stopping of the episodes in there. Edited February 20, 2020 by arrbee99

Luke 38874 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 @ghostsailer can you remux the file to remove the audio delay?
Ghostsailor 1 Posted February 24, 2020 Author Posted February 24, 2020 If you tell me how to, I am very happy to do so I just downloaded them a while ago and rendered them to x265 with Handbrake.
Luke 38874 Posted February 24, 2020 Posted February 24, 2020 I think that would be the best course of action. Thanks.
Ghostsailor 1 Posted February 25, 2020 Author Posted February 25, 2020 I think you missunderstood me That is what i originally did with the files. What do you mean by "remux"? I am not really into this scene and also not a native english speaker. Thank you for your help.
Luke 38874 Posted February 25, 2020 Posted February 25, 2020 Meaning are you able to convert them to strip out the audio delay?
Ghostsailor 1 Posted February 26, 2020 Author Posted February 26, 2020 I will try with Handbrake and report the outcome.
arrbee99 1661 Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Might be worth trying with mkvtoolnix. Probably better. You load in the file, highlight the audio track (in blue), set the delay (negative value), set the destination folder and click Start Multiplexing. Seems to work, though if it doesn't that means I don't know what I'm doing (again).
Happy2Play 9157 Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 It may confirm the issue but will make the file useless do to audio and video tracks being misaligned by that amount of time.
arrbee99 1661 Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Well I tried the above mkvtoolnix on S01E04 and it plays in vlc with out of sync audio and video, though Mediainfo doesn't mention 'Delay relative to video' at all. So the original has audio and video in sync even though Mediainfo says its 2.982s out and reducing that value to zero (as above) puts it out of sync. I guess that means something to someone. Or maybe not.
Happy2Play 9157 Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 This is issue has been around awhile for delayed audio tracks. I would have to look up if there was a threshold ever mentioned though.
