Filter by Decade

I have a fairly large movie collection (5k+) starting with films from the 1920's and in the absence of "smart" playlists how about a filter by decade option? Filtering by year works, but if I want to watch something from say the 1950's I have to start navigating from the 1930's and work my up to the 1950's which is quite a few number of pages. Another option might be to have Years running vertically much like the alphabet when viewing by title.

These plugin are very impressive, wish I had the brains, but think I'd prefer the years filter to be replaced with a decades filter with supplemental years sub filters.

I remember DECADES being an option years ago when it was still Media Browser. It was in the options tabs when you entered your MOVIES library next to GENRE. Someone had also made up a nice set of DECADES fanart. Would be nice to see it return in a future update.

I 2nd this request.  I rarely, if ever want to browse my media by a specific year.  Bu frequently I want browse, say, my 80s movies.  It's one of the reasons I still use Kodi as my front end.

Yep.  I have both Plex and Emby installed.  And this feature added to Emby would be great.  Especially for a very large collection spanning from the 1900's.

Why it's so complicated to add this simple filter? Maybe developper missunderstand the request? We don't want wait a decade before obtain this filter but filter by decade.... 

Emby is more powerfull player than Plex but their filter when I search for a movie is archaic. It's the main reason I use Plex again.

I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, and I'm not objecting to a decade filter, but the mutli-selects could benefit from being able to shift select multiple and then it would be much quicker to select a whole range of years.

Yes shift-select would help, instead of clicking on a year 10 times to get, say, the 50's.

But by decade would still be ideal. Maybe replace the list of years with a list of decades, each of which has a sublist for individual years...

Being able to Group/Sort/Filter by Decade would be an excellent option for not only movies but music as well, especially for large libraries.

It could be done manually to some extent by using custom Decade Tags and/or setting up custom Decade Collections but this would be very cumbersome to maintain for libraries with 1000s of items. An auto method built in to Emby would be greatly appreciated. Asset UPNP by dBpowerAMP does it very well for music.

My personal preference would be to have Decades as a top level menu item (in line with Albums, Album Artists, etc). Then filtering by Year would only ever show ten options. Also, shuffle play could possibly be easily applied to a whole Decade. I expect there are also many other methods that would work as well? 

Anyway, well done to the Emby team for a great product. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing what you implement regarding the Filter by Decade request.

User24 doesn't have too much hope. This filter has been requested by many users for so many years and the developer does as they please that I no longer hope to see a filter decades in the future. It is also for this lack of listening to developers and the absence of decade filters that I no longer use Emby and that I now only use competitive software... Yet it's something so simple to implement... In the competitive software, I use this filter EVERY day!

I'm adding tags to content now that include Decade 1990s and so on.
It's a few more clicks, but at least it gets what I want when I'm in the mood to look at content by decade
