Maybe I'm closer?  But once I sign into my nas through SSH, I can get a list out of the catagories in the cache folder, but I don't know how to get a text readout or individual files.

The first part of that is setting up permissions so your account can have full access to files on your NAS.  You can really use whatever Mac tool you want after that.

Once your permissions are set up then if you want a gui you could probably use something like FileZilla to navigate your NAS from your mac and then it should open whatever program is associated with a particular file extension.  I'm not a Mac person though

Followed all the steps in that link. Got this while trying to connect in Filezilla:

Error:        Received unexpected end-of-file from SFTP server

Error:        Could not connect to server

I don't know.  This is getting pretty intensive now just to check my thumbnail images.  Luke, is there really no other way for this? or any other way to fix a film that didn't create thumbnails?

Try renaming the video file so that it gets re-imported into the library. Then run a scan and see what happens.
