zoid1234 0 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Hi, i have the exact same problem. Content with subtitles won't play on tvOS.
Luke 40070 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I apologize for this issue. We'll be getting a fix out to resolve it. Thanks. 1
samuelqwe 316 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 (edited) While Beta 4.1.0.0 of Emby Server seems to fix playback of content with subtitles, the subtitles appear too quickly. What I mean is that the first sentence in the subtitle file is shown right away when the video starts, even if the subtitle is supposed to only show 15 seconds later. The following subtitles are also too early, because they follow relative to the first subtitle, as if it had been on time. The beta Apple TV app does not exhibit this issue. I will provide logs later. Edited January 19, 2019 by samuelqwe
Luke 40070 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Thanks for the info, yes that would be helpful.
samuelqwe 316 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 (edited) Here are the logs for Apple TV playback with Emby Server 4.1.0.0 The episode I was having issues with was Outlander on Apple TV with beta server. The beta Apple TV app works fine, but not the stable one. embyserverlog.txt ffmpeg-log.txt Edited January 19, 2019 by samuelqwe
stevenb@gmail.com 0 Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I posted on this in another channel but thought I'd make an update here. Pretty much all of the series I watch are downloaded from RABR in .mkv format. As previously stated I could watch these with subtitles turned on in v.3.6 with Apple TV but when the 4.0 upgrade went in subtitles would no longer play with .mkv files (OK with iOS and Chrome browser). Today I used handbrake to convert one of the .mkv files to mp4. I turned subtitles back on and while Emby didn't automatically load subtitles (and no option to add them from the Emby Apple TV app), if I searched manually from Admin access (my subtitles which then added them to the folder), I was then able to play the episode with subtitles. So the problem seems to be that .mkv files are not supported with subtitles. Not sure if that's helpful. Sorry if my IT vernacular isn't very clear
Luke 40070 Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 I apologize for the disruption. We'll be getting an update out to resolve this. Thanks.
UlfS 0 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 When can we expect an update available solving this problem?
Luke 40070 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 https://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-448-emby-server-401-released/
UlfS 0 Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 That does not solve the problem on playing mkv files with subtitles from my Apple TV I'm afraid. Video just hangs with this progress circle infinite. If I first disable subtitles it starts almost immediately. I have latest Emby server installed on a Windows server and using latest public Apple TV app.
Luke 40070 Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Please see how to report a media playback issue: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks !
UlfS 0 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Thank you! I have now gathered the logs for this problem. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-5545fc4b-c34d-4a07-92ce-9ae7e43d4865_1.txt hardware_detection-63684178212.txt
Luke 40070 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Please try again with the upcoming update to the Apple TV app. It will be any day now. Thanks.
UlfS 0 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Happy to hear somethings on its way! Can you tell me if this update also includes direct play? Thanks!
ebr 15664 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Happy to hear somethings on its way! Can you tell me if this update also includes direct play? Thanks! The current version can direct play if your content is Apple-compatible. The upcoming version will be able to direct play more but this will still be subject to the exact makeup of your content. Thanks.
