Godfather67 0 Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 We clearly indicated several times, no general XBOX sound issues, just with Emby Theater decoding DD5.1 on it.
Luke 40105 Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Do you hear the sound effects in the app as you navigate?
Godfather67 0 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 Do you hear the sound effects in the app as you navigate? No, I cannot hear any sound effect during navigation.
Luke 40105 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 This would suggest you may have muted the app in xbox settings. i vaguely recall this happening to one or two others before. @@FrostByte do you remember?
zsoltsuhajda 4 Posted February 19, 2019 Author Posted February 19, 2019 Let me repeat myself, #25: The no audio happens with with DD5.1, DTS works well everywhere in Emby Theater.Different mkvs, DD5.1 640kbps have audio, DD5.1 448kbps no audio, DD5.1 384kbps have audio. So the app cannot be muted.

The only sound issues I recall was when someone turned done the app volume settings and forgot to turn them back up, but that should affect all audio. Start playing video in Xbox app Click the big Xbox button Click Emby Theater from list (should be the first) There is a volume slider, mute button, etc. there I'm not seeing any issue with DD here, but mine is all 640kbps. Not sure why a different bitrate would matter. Is the one that's not working a different type of AC3, like EAC3, or something like that maybe? Could we see a pic of the mediainfo for one that works and one that doesn't? My Xbox settings look similar HDMI bitstream out No optical Dolby Digital HW Setup Xbox -> Samsung TV -> Samsung soundbar The only other thing I can think of right now is maybe uploading a small sample of one that doesn't have sound and we can test and try to duplicate the issue ourselves.
zsoltsuhajda 4 Posted February 19, 2019 Author Posted February 19, 2019 First two there is no audio, last two I have audio. Seems the difference is 44100Hz is not playing on windows store & xbox Emby theater app. 2

Please look at post #30 DTS track has sound, DD5.1 has no sound.
Guest asrequested Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 (edited) 48 kHz is probably the most common sample rate for AC3. When you guys play these videos in other apps that play the audio, is the audio being resampled? Edited February 20, 2019 by Doofus 1
FrostByte 5258 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 (edited) Please look at post #30 DTS track has sound, DD5.1 has no sound. Thanks, I don't believe I ever mentioned DTS though and the first part of that was a response to Luke's question about sound where I said that would affect ALL codecs Anyhow, I was just wondering if there are differences in the AC3 tracks that work and don't work, but it looks like zsoltsuhajda may have found something. I don't have anything with AC3 44 kHz sample rate to test though. Edited February 19, 2019 by FrostByte
zsoltsuhajda 4 Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 Is there any news regarding this topic?
Luke 40105 Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I have not been able to reproduce this on either Windows or Xbox one.
zsoltsuhajda 4 Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 (edited) What is the difference? I have audio with 6ch, and no audio with stereo https://ibb.co/Sm1wbkW https://ibb.co/84yNGB3 Edited April 9, 2019 by zsoltsuhajda
Guest asrequested Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 The bitrate is different. It looks like it doesn't like some bitrates. Is this only on Xbox?
Guest asrequested Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 (edited) So that sounds like Xbox doesn't like those bitrates. I would think the solution would be for the server to resample the audio to a standard bitrate with AC3, when Xbox is being used. Something like 384 at 48khz. Eventually, mpv will be the player, and this will never be a problem. Edited April 9, 2019 by Doofus
zsoltsuhajda 4 Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 I have no sound with this bitrate too. There is no logic which movies work, which is not. https://ibb.co/X2PDGH5
Guest asrequested Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Well that's bizarre. When you play it, what do the stats, say?
zsoltsuhajda 4 Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 How can I prove that there is a problem with emby theater xbox. 4 pages of explanation was not enough.I'm out of ideas. On xbox all my movies play fine in plex, in emby for kodi. Some of the movies have no sound in emby theater.
zsoltsuhajda 4 Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 And, all my movies play fine on my mi box too
Luke 40105 Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 What is your xbox connected to that receives the audio? Is there anything in the app that does produce sound? Have you tried music playback?
Guest asrequested Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I'm thinking it may have something to do with SPDIF. You're using optical, right? I wanted to look at the stats to see if it's showing audio. If it does, then that points to SPDIF. If not, then it's player side. I understand your frustration, but I'm trying to help narrow this down.
zsoltsuhajda 4 Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 Luke please. I have sound in emby theater, I just don't have audio in several movies. To Doofus, I don't use optical, xbox connected to JBL soundbar which connected to TV, both hdmi cables.
