I'm running the Emby app off an Android box with a typical mediacentre style remote and it's close to impossible to navigate using the arrow/directional keys as GUI elements are seemingly navigable at random.
Most section titles on the home screen can be navigated to, but not all; individual titles on the home screen are unreachable; etc.

It seems the only way to use the Android app is using touch/mouse input, which is not very comfortable doing from the couch.

Are there any plans for allowing normal navigation using arrow keys? This is currently the only thing keeping Plex in use for me as it's a bit of deal-breaker for using Emby on the TV (an older Samsung, so the Emby app there is even worse).

Hi, what version of android?

Posted

Version 7.1.2 on an H96+ device with a Bluetooth remote.

Did you install our mobile app, or our android tv app?

The standard mobile app. Is it even possible to install Android TV apps on generic Android?

Posted

Yes it's possible as long as it's Android 5.0+.

The mobile app does not currently support this but it's planned for the future. Thanks.

Thanks; the Android TV app is working much, much better! Still get some hiccups with streaming (looping buffer, sound disappearing, broken stream, ...) but that's for another topic :)

Thanks for the feedback. Yes please feel free to open tickets in the Android TV section and we'll be happy to help.
