The issue here doesn't appear to be audio or subs.  The video is doing a full transcode but I cannot see why.  The bitrate is within the request and the url only reports an unsupported audio codec.

Your server is not fast enough to do the video transcode.

Really?

Now see what is happend when i try to play that file in my PC directly

log transcode in PC.txt

server log.txt

Riggs

Something is wrong it can be played in my pc in the web browser

Of course with VLC or MPC-HCx64 the computer needs almost 0 resources

How you explain that?

As I said above, I don't see why it is doing a full transcode of the video.  Perhaps Luke can spot it...

Ok, I'm very concern about the issue and what is the problem.

I check hard drives, cpu, memory, everything.... so and the end i download plex free for test and i carged my drama library (the place where the "problem flies" are)

After all that sh*t installing that program..... saddly i found no issues in my PC.

I going to test the roku and see what happend

Here i going to leave thee capture of the file playing.... Saddly ... again... he start playing immediately :(

In your log example from earlier the video is transcoding when it should be stream copying. We're looking into it, thanks.

Also this comparison isn't' really fair. You're giving us an example with PGS subtitles and those will require transcoding if the subtitles are selected. However, in your screenshot with the other software, you have plain text SRT subtitles.

Use plain text SRT subtitles with Emby and it will be just as fast.

Sorry, i was blind. In your earlier example, you had PGS subtitles selected. Those will burn in with transcoding. That's why it is transcoding. Turn off the subtitles, or use our downloading feature to obtain external plain text SRT subtitles.

Sorry @@Luke but no, your totally wrong, is the same file untouched, same HDD, everything is the same.

Look the first picture, it shows the resources and the movie DOESN'T START look into the log the movie is: eat, pray, love.

You have the media info above, and like you can see, the spanish subtitles is SRT... YES it always was SRT..... the secondary english subtitle is PGS. The spanish srt is into the MKV how default and in the Emby server the default subtitle is the spanish subtitle.

One of the things that I NEVER do is cheat to anybody, i don't like that, in my case i just try to help, no criticize, that is NOT my goal , never, sorry if you understand another thing  :(

The second image published after the first one, shows the movie playing, i just run to post that situation because i found that is not a hardware problem or lag of resources...

BTW @@Luke a minutes ago I finished testing  in the Roku: THE SAME FILE, at original quality, and have no problems at all, even the subtitles. Why? I don't know that why i write above "saddly" ... I don't want use Plex anymore, in fact, i going to delete it after finish the tests.  I'm not Plex fan AT ALL.

For your records, early, in this PC at the time that I play the movie in chrome, I  saw the resources of the hard drive where "eat, pray, love" is, using the 100% of the resources, i mean 180MB/s that is the full speed of transfers disk that i have.

i had to stop the server, and doesn't work, the only way was killing the task via task manager. After kill the process the hard drive return to 0. The process that eat all resources in the hard drive was the ffmeg. Maybe that info help.

Sorry for any confussion :(

In the logs you provided you had pgs subtitles selected. You can see it right there. If you turn off those subtitles emby will start very fast.

Done, without subtitles start how Plex start, no delays, nothing

So just in case, i stop the movie, choose the spanish.srt and again it doesn't start.

I had to kill the process, again....

Have to reboot the computer, Emby is not starting to upload the log

hold on

Looking at "one.txt", that was very fast, I would expect that one to start quickly.

For "two.txt", you had pgs subtitles activated and these need to be burned in with transcoding.

Why is looking for the second subtitle or insist on use it?

[Parsed_subtitles_1 @ 00000231b974d880] Shaper: FriBidi 0.19.7 (SIMPLE)

[matroska, webm @ 00000231bcfbf440] Could not find codec parameters for stream 3 (Subtitle: hdmv_pgs_subtitle (pgssub)): unspecified size

It's not "looking" for any particular subtitle. It uses the one you select. Which one did you select?

Looking at the "two" log and the server log, it looks like it's trying to burn-in the subrip stream...and I have no clue why.  This should be a remux at worst since the subrip stream is selected.

The file info dump at the top of the transcode log looks accurate - index 2 is subrip with IsTextSubtitleStream is true and index 3 is PGSSUB with IsTextSubtitleStream is false.  I'm wondering if the client or server is either checking the wrong subtitle track for compatibility or assuming that the presence of a PGS sub track in the file despite it not being selected for presentation means all subs should be burned in.

Could it be that the entire file is flagged as "unsupported subtitles" because of that one track...just in case someone tries to switch mid-playback?  To some extent, I could understand if that was true so that playback doesn't seem to stall (or fail) if someone changes tracks to an unsupported codec, but it seems like counterintuitive behaviour when one of the two subtitle formats is supported and it happens to be the one that's selected for playback.

I select the spanish .srt subtitle for the test.

I leave here the structure that i use how standard with MKVToolNix GUI to multiplex all my collection. It is same the file in question just mounted in the program just for show you.

Normally is:

track 1: video -----default yes, forced no

track 2: Audio ------default yes, forced no

Track 3: Sub in spanish -----default yes, forced no

Track 4: Sub in english default NO, forced no

IF, the blu-ray comes with aditional more friendly audio (in terms of quality, and thinking in devices who need transcoding, like my old LCD screen in the boys living room) i add a secondary audio track for better compatibility.

The problem is: (and that's the reason of my request) that the secondary audio or the subtitle can't be changed before play any movie/show, etc. So, yes is very smart put the option to change any settings in all APPs before play the content. (In the web is already implemented and that's why i can do the test with and without subs)

In other hand, Roku is not friendly with DTS audio formats or advanced dolby formats like Atmos. It is a standard box. For me, Roku is a waist of money, but i need used, i'm not going to trashed.

Thinking in one normal movie and normal user, that file that i use, in this days is a normal file, nothing fancy or extreme and... it was taken from the original blu-ray. So no decoding or strange technics are applied to it.

Looking at "one.txt", that was very fast, I would expect that one to start quickly.
