v 3.3.0 update and library issue ?

I am in need of some help.  I am running Emby Server Version 3.2.70.18 beta on a Windows Home Server 2011.  For some reason my library is getting deleted every couple of days and I wind up have to rebuild the library which takes a bit of time.  This has happened about 4 times now over a week's time frame.  I have tried deleting the library.db file and rebuilding and that did not seem to solve the problem.  I have include the server logs and the media browser classis logs (running on the htpc).  If you look roughly around 16:30 in the server logs you can see a bunch of deleting of entries going on.  Is there a cleanup task going on that can be stopped?  I appreciate any help that you can provide.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

When I am sitting down to view a movie or a tv show and I go to explore one of my media channels, I get no items available.  When I check each of the other media channels, I get the same response.  I have to re-scan the library so that it can rebuild.  I can then view the items in each of the media channels I have.  It's like the items in the Library.db database are getting deleted.  I have verified this in Media Browser Classic, Emby Theatre, and through the web portal.  Let me know if this makes sense to you.

What kind of drive is your V: drive?

It is a drive array.  I use Flexraid to to pool 4 disks together.  I have been using Emby with this setup for a few years now and have not had an issue.  The only major change that I had was that I had to re install Windows Home Server due to my primary disk getting corrupted.  I had to replace the drive.  I re-installed everything and it seems to have worked well other than the above issue.  I did use the back up and restore plugin to restore my Emby environment.

It was 1 of 2 plugins updated after the 1st restart. This is after the 2nd restart w/ new, updated plugins.

We're going to have to catch this when the removal actually happens but it sounds to me like the drives are becoming unavailable and then a library scan is running during that time.

I'm seeing the exact same behaviour here on a network share from a synology array. hundreds if not thousands of items deleted. I've turned off scheduled library scans for now to try and prevent this, so i can ensure the array is fully "awake" and then trigger a manual scan for library content. This only started happening since i installed 3.3.0.0

This happened to me overnight. Opened the webUI to see my libraries on the home screen, but no 'Recent Media". Browsing each library confirmed they were all empty... no Movies, no TV Series, no Music... nuthin'. All the config data was intact, but all metadata (GBs, in fact) was gone. Log shows that @ ~11:30 last night, Emby decided to start deleting everything.

 

 

 

Media is on a NAS device that is allowed to sleep when idle, but this has never posed an issue in the past, & was probably still active when the log indicates the 'purge' began.

 

Currently in the middle of a ground-up scan, waiting to see how much manual effort (hours of updating, adding actor images, etc.) was lost.

As I stated, I'm pretty sure the NAS was still spun up, as I was looking at the channel issues shortly before retiring for the evening... within 10-15 min. of the 'purge' beginning.

 

You seem to be implying that people live on a regimented, predictable schedule. NAS(s) spin down whenever idle, which could be any time, at all. This hasn't been an issue since I started using MB3 shortly after the new project was announced. I should start running what amounts to a manually initiated scan... when I'm sure all conditions are favorable, from now on? That's hardly a reasonable solution.

My server did this as well upon update to 3.3, all libraries show no items post update and a library scan will find some items for a few minutes and then they dissappair again. The media is still on the drives and the only fix i found so far was to revert to 3.2.70, however all of the collections i had built for movies have been completely messed up.

I was prompted for an update to v 3.3.0

So I selected restart server - it did restart but no update - it was still 3.2.7

I did this a couple times and still no luck

 

so I went and stopped the emby server task

Re-launched emby server - it then applied the patch and requested a restart

restarted emby it applied v 3.3.0

then all the addons wanted a restart

restarted emby again

 

everything appeared ok - watched a movie

library scan started soon after or within 12 hours

 

Yesterday went to emby and all the media was missing (24 hours after update)

restarted a manual library scan - was taking forever just to go 1/10th of 1 %

it was complaining about all images (as in missing metadata - just took a 1 minute look)

 

I had to leave and this morning (12 hours later again)  it appears to be ok

 

 

I believe it was going out and verifying all the images and or meta-data?

Although I don't believe it downloaded much as the folder image dates didn't change for a couple  I looked at - unless there was a db or metadata rebuild ?

 

 

 

System:

w2012, 16 Gb, 80TB over 12 disks

All disks are active and on the same server as emby

i did look but not to sure what to look for

its over couple  days

 

this is what is repeated for different media

again it seems to be reaching out to the meta data providers for all media

 

internet was fine 

server has not been rebooted during this time

nor since it is working now

maybe omdb not responding due to too many requests ??
