Smaky 131 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Whenever I try to play to my UN55ES8000 Samsung TV I am getting the following error message (at the TV). The File you have selected is not currently supported. I am able to play the file directly from my NAS (Netgear) using the native DNLA capabilities of the TV/NAS. File is a regular mkv file with H.264 video and DTS audio. I have tried several files and they all exhibit the same behaviour.
Logos302 86 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 It's probably they just don't have a dnla "profile" (for lack of a better word) for you device. And there for don't have the correct information as to what it can play and what it can't (Natively). Supply your MBS log with you trying to play to you tv so the devs can get a better idea of what the server is trying to do at the time of the error.

7illusions 1249 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 The profile is correct, we seem to have an issue with some Samsungs though. A qualified guess is that the DlnaFlags we are using is the thing causing this error. We have seen it on 1 Samsung device previously, a D series. We will solve this soon. Thanks for reporting it.
7illusions 1249 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 We got it working on the other D-Series TV atleast. If you try it now it should work.

ronvp 92 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I have no issues with my F series.. stating the obvious here, but I assume you did apply all he latest Samsung firmware updates? Also, I suggest batch converting your MKV's to Mp4's (I used Xmedia Recode). Try 1 movie first and just copy the Video stream and Audio (should only take a few minutes). If there are still issues, do the same thing, but now re-process the audio to AAC 5.1, at highest bitrate possible.. (I think that is 448 or even 512) MP4 with h264 and AAC 5.1 audio, works on almost every device.. With the current capabilities of MP4, there is only rarely a reason to stick with MKV.. 1
Starlionblue 80 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Yes I have the latest firmware. The problem isn't the files themselves. I never get that far since MB Server never shows me the TV.
mycrowsquish 0 Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 my recently purchased UN55F9000 does the same thing. What is very strange is I can stream from my Windows 7 PC and it will display on the TV and once I've sent a file to the TV, be it video or picture, later from the TV I can those view the files from the PC. Here's what I did: 1. setup all the media settings on the PC so I see the TV in the list of "network devices" 2. setup on the TV to allow the media center PC to send media to the TV 3. open media player and select a folder of pictures. 4. right click and select the "Send to TV" the pictures will display on the TV. If I stop the slide show on the TV all the pictures that were displayed can again be displayed. Any picture not yet shown won't display and I'll get the "format not supported" message. Shouldn't this just be plug and play? Especially for something as easy as a JPG file.
Smaky 131 Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 I have been trying all server updates since I posted this. The problem persist. Unfortunately for me going to MP4 is a no go (my library is over 1500 mkv´s). I have no issues watching these movies via ReadyNAS DNLA.

Luke 38842 Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 It's just going to take time and research to learn the differences that each device presents. what we're going to do with the next release is open our dlna profiles up to the community. that will allow you edit and control how we talk to the device. so it's going to be a team project. 4
Smaky 131 Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 These are great news... this way we call all contribute to support DNLA.
Smaky 131 Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Ok, I updated to the latest release that allows DNLA profile editing... can anyone point me in the right direction to troubleshoot my TVs? Luke 38842 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 can you post media info on those files, as they appear in the web client? as for steps to create a profile, you start by looking up manufacturer documentation of what the tv supports. then you use that to create the profile. it's always possible that we need multiple samsung profiles. that's what we need the community's help on researching.
Smaky 131 Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 I'm on a business trip this week... I'll get the info on saturday as I get back at home.
