wp.rauchholz 5
I do have a doubt. I appear to have a 2012 Slim LED Samsung. I tried several times to install the app following the 2012 E-Series Install procedure (UE40ES7000SXXC). But I always get kicked out with a network error. Should that procedure work and there is really a only a problem with the network or is my TV not compatible? Thanks, Wolfgang

wp.rauchholz 5
Never mind. I am not very smart. I entered the wrong IP address!!! Sorry. I got it installed, then, but I cannot stream a single movie. I get the following messages when starting a movie: Loading Buffering 91% Buffering 99% Undefined Render Error Type: 1 Edited December 8, 2017 by wp.rauchholz
FrostByte 5049
Can you post a pic of the mediainfo for one of these files that doesn't play? That render error you're getting is from the Samsung TV itself. Off the top of my head these are some of the error types I can remember 1. Unsupported container 2. Unsupported video codec 3. Unsupported audio codec 4. Unsupported video resolution 7. Undefined If you could also provide any transcoding or server logs that may help Edited December 8, 2017 by FrostByte

FrostByte 5049
Could you also post the transcode/server logs. Paths should be listed in the server dashboard if you're not sure. Also there should be a log within the app itself under settings, though you would have to take a pic to post that. Do you know the version of the app you're running? Is there any way you could post a small sample which doesn't play correctly? Edited December 8, 2017 by FrostByte

FrostByte 5049
Do you have a transcode log to go with Percy Jackson movie and mediainfo also please. What is the bitrate setting of the app on the TV? As a test wondering if you could place Percy Jackson on a USB and play it using the built in media player on the TV. Does it play from USB? All I can see in the server log is that the app stopped playback. Probably after you get the Type 1 error

FrostByte 5049
Is there any way you can split the movie and post a small part that still doesn't play correctly? wp.rauchholz 5
Now it is getting interesting I can play the 30 sec snippet on my Samsung, but the error with the movie (and other movies too) persists. It starts buffering, gets to 99% and ~30/45 secs later, the error message pops up. The media info doesn't look the same as the one you posted though WPR: I have no explanation for that. The 30 sec scene was created from that file. I only have one Percy Jackson movie on my server. I did not manipulate the file. This is the command I used: ffmpeg -i <source-file.mp4> -ss 00:00:00 -t 00:00:30 <destination file.mp4> The comment made about concerning to play directly. What is the importance? FrostByte 5049
It looks like that command stripped all but the one English audio track out. At least you know the app works, we just need to figure out what the difference is between the file you posted and the other ones. What is the bitrate setting in the app itself? Also, I noticed looking at the mediainfo the video file isn't the first ID in all original files. I wonder if the app is having issues with that, Usually the video has ID=1, then audio, subtitles, chapters, etc . Could be why it's a type 1 error because it's not seeing the video as the first ID. That's just a WAG though, not sure Edited December 10, 2017 by FrostByte
wp.rauchholz 5
I played with the bitrate from 60 (initial) to as low as 6. No change in behavior. I looked again at the mediainfo of the two files, but I do not know what to look for. Also, I noticed looking at the mediainfo the video file isn't the first ID in all original files. WPR: Can you please send me a mediainfo that is 'correct'. I will try to find a command in linux to change the file and 'correct' the ID data piece. I took a pic of the log (attached). The Embyserver completes buffereing and generates only after the render error. Wolfgang Percy.txt percy.txt
FrostByte 5049
Can you take another pic showing the part above what is shown in your pic where the video checks start? You should be able to scroll up the log and see something like this. The lines I'm looking for are marked in my example from your split file In the log it starts numbering parts at 0, whereas mediainfo starts at 1. I seem to remember if the video /audio weren't in the default positions there being a problem before, but I can't find those threads right now to verify. FrostByte 5049
Ok, thanks. That is what I thought it would show. The app found the default audio in the first position ( 0 ) and the default video is in the 5th position ( 4 ). I'm hoping this is what is causing the problem because I'm not seeing anything wrong with the actual codecs, etc At this point I would try a couple things. 1. As a test set the playback bitrate of the Emby app on the TV really low. Set it below the bitrate of your input video, something like 2 - 4 Mbps. This should force the server to transcode your movie. The file is currently Direct Playing and the TV is rejecting it so I'm hoping that the server ffmpeg conversion will create a file which plays fine. Sort of like the split file you sent worked fine 2. Find a tool which can change the order of internal files of a mp4 container without transcoding. Remux (don't transcode) one file with the video first, then all audio, then subtitles, and lastly chapters. If you can't find a mp4 remux tool then try MKVtoolnix and remux your mp4 into a mkv. Check the mediainfo of the new file to verify internal files have IDS in order of video, audio, subs, chapters and then try to play. 3. Or, if you prefer upload the smallest video you have which still gets the Type 1 error. I can play with it here Edited December 11, 2017 by FrostByte
wp.rauchholz 5
Setting the bitrate to lower than 4 makes the trick. What is the imoplicaiton if - in the future - I use the Live TV in the future? Is this really the most elegant solution? Why not allowing the user to decide whether to transcode or not?
