keithterrill 2 Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 After I gave up and uninstalled everything and then reinstalled so I could see the files from within emby client I discovered that it is not seeing any files that are in subfolders. The movies "2001: A Space Odyssey", "2010", "Dune", "Theory of Everything", and "Twelfth Night or What You Will" do not show up in the library while the other movies do. If I move the files from the subfolder into the main Movies folder it then discovers it and lists them in the library. All the files and folders have the same owner and rights. Before the update I was able to see all of the movies even when they were in subfolders. Then after the update I couldn't see anything. Now after deleted everything and reinstalling I cannot get movies that are in subfolders.I wanted to put each in a subfolder so I could add special features like subtitles.Leason I am learning: don't do the upgrade?
Luke 39008 Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 What folder did you add in emby library setup, and what content type did you select?
keithterrill 2 Posted November 4, 2017 Author Posted November 4, 2017 What folder did you add in emby library setup, and what content type did you select? Starting from the top: Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4: Step 5: Step 6: Step 7: Step 8: Step 9: Step 10: Step 11: Step 12: Step 13: Step 14: Step 15: Step 16: step 17: Step 18: Step 19: step 20: Now they are there, but I do not have the subtitles with those 5 movies. ---------------------------------
Deathsquirrel 743 Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 You can, and should IMO, have each movie in its own subfolder. You can also have all the movies in a common folder. I've no idea if you can mix the two in the same folder but from your results I doubt it. I suggest you pick one.

I've no idea if you can mix the two in the same folder but from your results I doubt it. I suggest you pick one. Up until this recent upgrade (version 3.2.35.0) the way I had the files worked fine. And, I originally set this up based on https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Movie-naming. But for grins and giggles I will attempt to put them in their own subfolders. First, I created a subfolder for each movie. Then I moved the movie into its subfolder. So we have: Then I scanned all the libraries, Then I scanned the movie Library alone. Then I stopped and restored the emby-server. Then I scanned again... And, this is what I got: As you can see it did not pick up the movies with more than one file in the subfolder. --------------------
Luke 39008 Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 so you restarted the server, movies showed up fine, scanned the library, and then they were gone? is that correct?
keithterrill 2 Posted November 13, 2017 Author Posted November 13, 2017 so you restarted the server, movies showed up fine, scanned the library, and then they were gone? is that correct? No. I restarted the server and only some of the movies showed up. I gave screen shots so you all could compare. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) <----------- NOT showing up 2010 (1984) <------------------------------------ NOT showing up Act of Valor (2012) <----------------------------- shows up American Graffiti (1973) <---------------------- shows up Dune (1984) <------------------------------------- NOT showing up Gettysburg (1993) <------------------------------ shows up Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost (2011) <------- shows up Jesse Stone: Sea Change(2007) <---------- shows up Jesse Stone: Thin Ice (2009) <--------------- shows up Run Silent Run Deep (1958) <---------------- shows up Source Code (2011) <--------------------------- shows up The Cross and the Switchblade (1970) <--- shows up The Fugitive (1993) <---------------------------- shows up Theory of Everything (2014) <----------------- NOT showing up Twelfth Night or What You Will (1996) <---- NOT showing up UHF (1989) <-------------------------------------- shows up US Marshals (1998) <--------------------------- shows up As I said at the bottom of the last screen shot "you can see it did not pick up the movies with more than one file in the subfolder"
Luke 39008 Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Very strange. You used the Movies content type, right? i followed your exact structure. And got this:
keithterrill 2 Posted November 21, 2017 Author Posted November 21, 2017 The structure looks the same. I do not know what system you ran it on. Was it a Linux? The only other difference I can see is the fact that you are using "mkv" extensions while I am using "mp4".What I have done is to:1. Reformat a drive to EXT4.2. Move all of my files on to the this new drive as a dedicated drive.3. Delete the user which I had installed the emby-server under.4. Create a new user5. Set the User and Group permissions for the emby and the new dedicated drive 6. Put each movie in its own folder7. Re-add the Library files (just like before). Now it works.Since I got it working I started a monthly subscription to help pay for this project. Thank you
